Something of a reality check for the Drovers at Ebbw after last week's festival.  Despite being largely outmuscled in the forwards, and missing a couple of players on Scarlets duty, they managed to score 3 nice tries but comically botch what might have been a try bonus point.  Still, a win's a win!Smile

Joseph absolutely flying again! Can anybody tackle the man?

At 26, is it too late for him to become a full time pro?

The word is that he has some kind of Scarlets contract.  If so, he may turn out for the Scarlets in one of their lower profile up-coming matches.  The test is whether he is the archetypal "flat track bully" who steams through premiership opposition (because it is slower and less effective) but isn't as dangerous against professional defences.  He hasn't been tested defensively either.  At first sight he seems reminiscent of Havili, but he's much more powerful and can often run through people he can't run round!  Smile

I think he's quite different from Havilli. But I've only seen the highlights. havili could only run in a straight line. This guy has power and his support play looks quite good too.

Has he got a footballing brain? Or is it more about Brawn?

If hes that good its a mystery why he hasn't been picked up before though, at 26.

Oh yes, quite different in build and running style - I meant in the sense that Havili was effective if and only if he had the space to make the line, because that's what he needed to do.  Jo initially seemed like that in that he always looked to run through or round the opposition himself.  That in itself can be useful, because it ties up opposition players to watch him, but lately he's been moved to centre and is now making tries for other people.

He's better (isn't anyone?) if he has some space, but when he receives man and ball together he's also powerful enough to stay on his feet.  I'm guessing he's a late starter, and has been placed with the Drovers to acquire tactical nous in a pressure-free environment.  The risk is that he might not need that nous to be effective at this level - there are any number of players that are very effective semi-pros who haven't got the brains to succeed in the professional game.

Anyone any ideas why 6 players for LLandovery have been transferred to other clubs recently, season is not very old yet and injuries are bound to pull on resources as the season progresses.
