What's the definition of a "dominant tackle"? Is there a definition or is it something the statisticians have dreamt up?

Results going in our favour at the moment. Dragons lead Edinburgh 17-14 at HT. O's holding Ulster 0-0 at HT.

We have to play 2 of those chasing 2nd and 3rd place, so it is in our own hands.

Whatever it means, it's clear that England put in far more 'dominant tackles' than did Ireland.

crowd of 4262 at the dreadful ospreys game at brewwery field...5900 at arms park...so much for terrestrial tv hitting crowds...the premier rugby channel seems to have hurt crowds even more as we dont get the bbc exposure on the league anymore

I think it is a tackle which is made on or behind the gainline.

O's now losing, but Edinburgh lead 29-17 and have just scored their 4th try.

He was out for some time so needs games. Same thing can be said of Sexton really. Its all well & good the IRFU protecting players but Sexton has missed a huge amount of rugby and he didn't look at the races on Saturday. Usually he is on the money tactically but he looked all at sea when England's defensive intentions became clear.
Ireland have perfected the art of the box kick chase but when it is being defended as well as it was by May mostly on Saturday you have to have the nous to change - they didn't and kept feeding England with ball. Contrastingly Youngs & Farrell mixed their kicking game up well and looked to keep Ireland in their own half with pretty devastating line speed and first up dominant tackles which is an interesting addition to the stats shown live.

Irish newspapers over weekend criticising the fact that Henshaw/Ringrose/Sexton/Murray have played to few games this season and looked off the pace, maybe we'll see a change of direction.....interesting.

Yes, on Saturday Ireland came up against a wall, and stupidly kept on running into it or box kicking balls that were being fielded well. I can't imagine that Gatland and Edwards will have missed the implications.

Just seen the highlights and the Cardiff v Glasgow game was a cracker deserving of a bigger crowd.
TBH these games in between Six Nations matches are generally poorly attended. All focus is on the internationals + there's the impact of knowing you will be watching weakened teams. |
