he must be on over £100k a year and we can't sustain 4th choice players on that wage let alone taking up an nwq slot

I did say at the start of the season hardy would jump above him in the pecking order

west wales produces loads of good 9's most of the imports we have brought in to that position have flopped, a lesson we should learn

Tipuna was a New Zealand 7's and Moari's international and went on to represent Bristol and Newcastle over 100 times in the Aviva after leaving us.

Really? I don't know the average salary of Welsh rugby players but sounds like poor business if true.

Was not trying to say that at all. I was just providing a point of interest.

He wasn’t in the best of shape when he came to us. Went on to find form and fitness.

So we only have Cawdor and Hardy then as Jon Evans is out for rest of season isn't he? Bit of a risk?

This is the post I posted on the Tom Price heading.

One point on loan players, normally a clause in the loan agreement that if the parent club (Scarlets) have an emergency then they can recall the player, so I assume that we are covered.
Be careful when you pick up the stick.........IT MAY BE THE WRONG END!!!!!!!!!!

Ive noticed a trend that players who play 9 as one of their positions dont tend to be top 9s. Of course there are exceptions. But like hooker and tight head, its a specialist position. I think SHC has suffered from being used across the backline in his career.

Flanker Mike Phillips did alright at it. Wink And we played him at 12 occasionally as well.

You're right though it's specialist. The french did have a few players able to alternate between 9 and 10, e.g. Michalak, but generally very rare they're top level at 9.

Like i said there are exceptioons but by the time a 9 is pro, if he wants to make it at the top end he really needs to be serious about the position.
