Its absolutely ridiculous, and I'm not saying Ben will go out to favour the Ospreys or will over compensate and favour us, however when that 50/50 call has to be made sub conscious certainly plays a part. So why leave doubt in the fans and players minds when there is a simple answer to the situation? |

The Irish officials already had to travel over to Scotland (assumed to be flying and associated hotel costs). No difference if they flew into Wales. Can't see why the pro 14 therefore couldn't fly the Welsh officials up to Glasgow.

I dont agree with Nigel reffing the Osprey derbies. If there's an obvious connection, remove it from fans minds and put someone in charge who has no connections. It should be fairly simple to find a PRO14 ref who doesnt actually come from the regions playing in a vital one off match.

The best referee is the referee who has never refereed your team.... The worst referee is the referee who has refereed your team the most times........ |

Ken is a wonderful advert for the Scarlets but he is not a captain in the AWJ mould. AWJ is as adept at handling referees as he is at handling opposition lineouts. Both of these attributes could count against us tomorrow.

Even more reason for him not to be bias towards them then. People use the bias towards us for Nigel excuse so he has to favour the Ospreys.

in fairness gowerton is as close to the parc as it is to the liberty Not sure him being friends with an ex osprey player is a valid reason for him to not to ref this game Nigel is from our region and on here most people think he is anti scarlets

Whitehouse has had a strong connection with the Ospreys. He's from the region, he's been a regular down there over the years doing clinics. A very close friend of Dan Biggar and therefore by association would have been friendly with current Osprey players and on first name terms with many others. Attended Dan Biggar's wedding I'm told. So with regards to picking a ref for this one the Pro14 could have chosen someone who doesnt have such a close association with one of the two teams competing. That would have been a good starting point.

Other than to save a few pennies I can't really see the logic. |

When you have three Irish officials doing the Glasgow v Ulster game and three Welsh doing the Osprey Scarlets game,it is quite clear how there could be a solution that wouldn’t cause any eyebrows to be raised.

Considering this is a European knockout game, I don't see why we can't get a referee from a decent, competent competition. Surely all the English ones aren't busy this weekend?

I wouldn’t have an issue with Joy Neville. I’ve been impressed with her.
