Lets make this a well attended event so that Pivac can see how passionate Scarlet supporters are.

Some posters in the barn, advertising the event might ensure a larger turnout, and possibly an announcement from Tommo (if he's still involved.)

fair play to all the guys for giving up their time. i'm sure there'll be loads of questions for Nigel & Mark, and for the Coaches. these events have been split into 2 events in the past, is it possible to split them into 2 events this time to give them the time they deserve ?.

I think its a question of grabbing them now whilst we have the opportunity Tondu and hopefully we shall have a stage 2 later in the season anyway. Wayne speaks very well from his press interview. Greater natural communication confidence and more chirpy than Simon it seemed which will aid press communications (I hope)

The idea was to have them as separate events but Nigel & Mark were very keen to speak to supporters whilst the news was still relatively fresh.
It's not ideal but, with the coaching staff there as well, it should make for a very informative evening.

Maybe on this occasion is to filter the questions put forward to get more out of the time available, but then again not everyone who attend these evenings is on SF, so logistically it may not be as simple as that.

You have to applaud the way Crys 16 are able to gain access to the coaches, players and directors.

And applaud the fact these people are willing to make themselves available.

I never afraid to call the region out on it's shortcomings and it's only right I should applaud them publically when they do things well.

Keep up the good work

It starts at 6:30 pm.

Nigel Short & Mark Davies are addressing supporters first on the new agreement between WRU & RRW. They will start this @ 6:30 prompt.

Following that, Wayne Pivac & his coaching team will be there to answer questions from us on the playing side.

Great event tonight, and a brilliant turn out. I made some brief notes on my iPad, so here they are, not formatted, just completely raw. The Q and A with the coaches was more general. Apologies if some of this is vague.

Here we go.

Nigel Short

Presentation for potential major sponsors
Case study academy player
Best youth development system in world rugby
Connections across the world - Qatar, China
£1m stadium naming rights
£1m European deal - eliminates structural loss

Nigel Short on the RSA

£1.25m per team per year for league tv / sponsorship
4.2% indexation - well above inflation
Exceptional circumstances, excellent service to Wales, no problem leaving for 2 years
4th AI - contract for next 2/3 years, then a commitment to move the game to be the first game
PRGB - no power to govern international game or change financial distribution
Sam Warburton moved to a dual contract
6 players sign dual contract before Gatland's Law kicks in
if £2m for dual contracts not spent, money re distributed to regions
£3.3m available for dual contracts, 15 to 20 over time
16 games minimum for dual contracts, play offs extra
Region and WRU agree market value of player, if no agreement, independent board
£42m to £63m european distributions up this year
European distributions hopefully up to over £100m in 4 years
5 partner sponsors for european competition, Heineken committed for 3 years, 6 other sponsors in discussions. 2 or 3 this year, more next year.
Nigel Short stepping down from RRW to concentrate on Scarlets

Coaches

No.1 team in Wales within 3 years
Win the Pro12 in 3 years
Expansive style
Some players "will pay the price for their performance"
Jordan Williams starting on the wing v Leinster
Danny Wilson new forwards coach with Bristol full time, leaving us
4 lineout jumpers, no 8 is one of them
Squad is complete, "what we've got is what we've got, for now."
Phil John technical scrum coach
Chris H not in matchday squad for 3 or 4 weeks, has moved to area
Potential Super15 signing, contract not signed

The event was very well attended . Mark Jones , Byron Hayward and Pivac were there. Mark Davies and Nigel Short too.. Its safe to say and this was said last night that without the efforts of Nigel.Short and Mark the agreement with the WRU would not have been made. They both really pioneered the efforts of RRW. Nigel admitted that he.even had Ospreys supporters coming up to him on the street and thanking him.

Thanks to Crys 16 and Alun for the info.

Pity Danny Wilson is no longer involved.

Wonder if Jinks's input helped Rhys P to kick so well in the last 2 games (OK, apart from one kick). He nailed some outstanding conversions from practically on the touchlines...

Dropped. And one or two in particular have been dropped for this weekend based on their performance Saturday. It was hinted that the casualties came off the bench.

Trouble is there isnt much to drop eg Shingler? for kicking straight into touch (school boy error under pressure)? Pete the Meat ? who was on for about 5 mins! (as an aside I suspect Pivac has worries re Pete when playing against Ulster level ,or he would have brought him on after say 60 minutes as most props are). Owen? made a few good playmakes and a hand in a try but can be sloppy. Kelly? he is the only lock reserve ? So not sure really. Probably a throw away line which shouldnt be bought into. The facts were that they had a better bench INCLUDING NICK WILLIAMS who made a huge difference and its not reasonable to punish bench players for not stopping him.  I felt everyone gave their all last Sat in adverse weather conditions.

There's also Rob, I suppose.

Bit harsh on them all, when the starting XV didn't cover itself in glory in the aspects highlighted by Pivac.

You started off by saying there isn't much to drop, and then you missed a whole host things that people should be dropped for. Smile

I think to say that we did ok under the circumstances is exactly the sort of mindset that needs changing.  Not a pop at you by the way mate, because I thought we did ok as well.  But - its good that the coaches are saying its not OK, and its not ok to the extent that heads need to roll.  If we are to win the GP PRO12 in the next 3 years, this is exactly the sort of attitude we need.

our own errors cost us the game, I didn't think Nick Williams was the difference. We seemed to contain him reasonably well, we missed far too many tackles before he came on the field.

Gareth Owen fumbled a cracker also. His mistake count is probably the highest of the whole squad. Aled did a good job v Gloucester and in bath so think he should be given a chance. Is a shame about 4 weeks till we get Chris h, by that time rory will be fighting for the 2nd 8 spot for Wales v baker. Like they've given phil a job there, best scrummager around since last year. Very positive vibes from that and hope we live up to what was said! Roll on sat!!

I also agree re our error count but still feel Williams ensured we started to get mullered in the scrums and forward play during that last 15 minutes. He is a freak of nature with his power.

Is a shame about 4 weeks till we get Chris h, by that time rory will be fighting for the 2nd 8 spot for Wales v baker. Like they've given phil a job there, best scrummager around since last year. Very positive vibes from that and hope we live up to what was said! Roll on sat!!
Gareth Owen also created the fourth try. He really hot and cold

I think it's a combination of trying too hard and not working enough at his game. The things he does wrong he was doing wrong 3-4 seasons ago. Yet if he sorted these things out he could be a very, very good player indeed.

I hope Pivac can do something with him.

Yes he made a great break to set up the first try but lost the ball when in a try scoring position. Shame Chris Hala'ufia won't play much this season.

That all makes for very good reading actually, with the league being worth substantially more than I thought.

Was the naming rights issue mentioned as a possibility or something we are actively discussing with potential partners?

Gareth Owen just needs to show some consistency. He'll do something brilliant one minute and then do a few brainless things. At the moment he is too error-strewn, but then he'll need game time to find his feet properly again after his stop start career for the last couple of years.

He cuts out the mistakes, he could be a real asset.

It was included as part of a presentation that the Scarlets use to convince potential sponsors to invest in the company as a potential opportunity.

On the subject of international sponsors, it's early days yet according to Nigel Short.

He made mistakes, but also was definitely responsible for our last try.

Their bench was stronger than ours - no Q - and Nick Williams made a difference.

Mostly, the errors that cost us happened when the starting XV were (mainly) still in place - silly penalties on halfway (allowing line-outs in our 22 leading to tries); and the innumerable missed tackles - especially on their 12 Olding. We seemed incapable of bringing this guy down.

22 Missed Tackles !!!

Poor, but in no way can that be blamed on tactics .... It's just personal errors !

As Wayne said last night, during the match review all the players had to review their contributions & shortcomings in front of their team mates ...  Trust me ... if you want to hammer home a point, it's brutal but effective !

Many thanks to everyone who turned up last night.

We reckon there was over a 100 supporters there.

From the very detailed presentation by Nigel Short to the coaching team's entertaining, informative & honest input, I'm sure everybody enjoyed the occasion.

Diolch yn fawr iawn i chi gyd.
