First sketchy details of the new Professional Rugby Agreement - we've come along way from the 'WRU v Welsh Rugby' war, and now it's time for some positive strides, with 5 entities working together, and a fresh approach to the Community game, to improve the performance of all aspects.
In Wales, Rugby's Coming Home...
A new Professional Rugby Board is also set to be introduced, with 2 WRU members (CEO & Finance Director?), 1 from each of the Regions + 2 independents. Finally, the right structure for the 21st Century. Edited by NobbySosban - 11 July 2018 at 5:22pm |

It’s a (bit of an) EDIT HUGE eye opener seeing that we get the biggest increase, yet are still only equal with the Blues and behind Ospreys.
It puts our success into an even more impressive category. Edited by Eastern outpost - 11 July 2018 at 5:16pm |

How does WRU money spent on Dual Contracts impact on the top line ? are they included as part of the say £6.2m that Ospreys get? It looks more transparent anyway.

I presume that the playing budgets being touted for next season include money put aside by the regions themselves and their backers as it would really be hard to accept that the Ospreys would still be getting more funding from the WRU than us based on their performances over the past 2-3 seasons.
If the figures being banded around about the SW deal are true, plus AD’s deal and GN’s NDC, then those 3 alone would probably account for £1m of that figure (great value for money, bearing in mind that they will be away on international duty for large chunks of the forthcoming season and probably most of the following season too. As has been said already, the performances in the past 2 seasons have been phenomenal, if the playing budgets have been as low as £4m. Just goes to show what can be achieved if you buy the right kind of players at the right price. Just think what could have been achieved with a 5 or 6 million pound budget. |

It seems that the PRA story was not so much based on Simon Thomas's 'off the record' chat with Martyn Phillips and Gareth Davies after the Pivac announcement on Monday, more based on 'lots of digging' with one of the Regions, presumably one not so far from WalesOnline's office.
I'm sure the Pivac succession plan will be the main topic of conversation at the Crys16 AGM tonight, but the 'new RSA' won't be far behind - Mssrs Short & Davies in attendance from 6.30-7.30pm, I believe, so get your questions in early (although you may not get a full answer following this leak, as it's not quite all dotted & crossed yet). |

Thanks for the "plug", Nobby.
As an update, Scarlets General Manager of Rugby, Jon Daniels will also be in attendance this evening. Hope to see as many of you down there as possible. Diolch yn fawr.

Sorry I can't make the 400 mile round trip tonight, but delighted to hear that Nigel, Jon and Mark are turning out for the AGM - have a great meeting! |
