If you're not amongst the hundreds of supporters travelling to Toulon for Scarlets' opening Rugby Champions Cup clash this weekend why not head down to parc y Scarlets to support the region's next generation in what promises to be a thrilling clash.
Carmarthen Quins, with a dusting of Scarlets' development players, were defeated in the opening round away from home to Jersey but will be looking to get the campaign back on track at the Parc this Saturday, kick-off 2.30pm. The fixture is an all-to-pay game with tickets on sale now from the ticket office at Parc y Scarlets priced at adult £10, concession £5, juniors £3 and under 6s free. Scarlets Season ticket holders are entitled to the following discounts; adults £5, concession £2.50, juniors £1.50 and under 6s free. Support the region's next generation this weekend. Ticket office will be open from 10am on Saturday. Edited by minded - 15 October 2014 at 12:01pm |

With this match being at Parc y Scarlets it makes the play offs look even more pointless as they are playing 1 match at each of the stadiums, so they should just have called them Scarlets A

Well they did say last season that it would be Scarlet A after a few players refuse to wear the Llanelli RFC shirt (understandably) so I guess that changed. I wonder if it would have been different if Llanelli were the representatives?

should have played at their home ground - complete fudge up- the idea of a Llanelli A was never on (not at least without some serious and open negotiations on the proposition to secure buy in)- back to the drawing board?

It certainly hasn't gone down very well at the Quins.

The Quins Chairman and another committee member have resigned because of the fact that the Scarlets have requested that the Quins team be a Scarlets A team selection.

Why didn't we just let Quins do what they wanted with this competition? They earned the right and it's only a few games.
Is putting out a theoretically stronger side really worth the damaged relations? Be grateful if Crys16 could put this to the management. Very disappointing state of affairs.

I fully agree. It MIGHT possibly,possibly.. have worked if there had been a full discussion on it plus commitment from all, but the idea that a regional feeder club qualifies as the best team and then has to take in others from losing teams is niave to say the least. It would be different if say a Scarlets A team had been formed out of players from the regional feeders but that would be more like a scratch side. Teams who win should just represent the region and play at their home ground to maximise the crowd or just revert back to how it was before these awful changes were imposed at short notice to!

Ahh see, they don't like it in Carmarthen when the shoe is on the other foot. If we get our ambulances, fire engines, A and E services, and police beats back as well as our fair share of council money back in Llanelli then I'd say open the talks, but until then tough! ....PS What are they doing in my blydi stadium anyway? ....and they're moaning about it. The should be thankful we'd have them there, so they don't have to play at Cowpat Park.

Let's look at it this way, when Llanelli were declared the A team they didn't have to move around the region did they? So why should Quins?
Sometimes it's not hard to see why they get so disillusioned. |
