Yes, I agree - I get the feeling Woody might slowly get pushed out of the Lions job now, and where would that leave Gareth Jenkins?

I think it means that at the begining of the year he resign a new 4 year contract but he had in a clause place that during the 1st year if he decided to quit he would only have to complete 12 months of the contract.

Mystery surrounded Sir Clive Woodward's future after he left the Rugby Football Union's headquarters on Wednesday saying he was still England coach.

Woodward, who has been linked with Southampton football club, returned to Twickenham to quit his post, having earlier met RFU chief Francis Baron.

But he said as he left: "As far as I am concerned I am still England coach. I have not handed in my resignation."

I dont see him staying after all thats gone on today.

Lawyers of both parties were present so assume they are still chewing over his contract

Although It was the BBC who said he had resigned. It was never confirmed on the RFU website.

I wonder if little miss muppett has been giving them advice on how to run a union?

Sir Clive Woodward's reign as England coach has ended after the Rugby Football Union accepted his resignation after two days of talks.

Spokesman Richard Prescott read a statement outside the RFU's Twickenham headquarters, confirming Woodward's seven-year spell in charge had ended.

Woodward said he wanted to stay for the Autumn internationals but the RFU decided he should leave immediately.

Andy Robinson, Woodward's former deputy, has been named acting coach.

The rfu have formally accepted his resignation.

Assuming that he takes up a managerial role at Southampton, will he still take charge of the Lions? Surely not

Does this leave the door open for Gareth, or possibly Eddie maybe?
