I know its a european game at home, but I think i would consider resting a fair few players.  We beat Treviso 1st at PYS already this season minus the bulk of our internationals.

Id go

J Mac, Nicholas, Steff, Parkes, Prydie, Dan, Aled;
Wyn, Elias, Kruger, Bullbring, Beirne, Barclay, Cubby, Boyde
(bench: Dylan, Ken (if fit), Gardener, Price, Macloed; Cawdor, Patch, Scott)

I think we can rest some internationals next week and then field them for the away match....After the double match with Scarlets, Treviso will have the italian derbies and I think for them are more important these matches....

I don't think we can afford to rest players. We have to win and have to score 4 tries to have a chance at progressing.. Benetton are a serious outfit this season so it'll be a tough challenge, particularly if it's wet.

We have a week gap between the two Benetton games and then a ten day gap between then and Boxing Day. We can mix and match v Cardiff and the Dragons.

All hands on deck, unless your injured you play. This is the biggest club rugby competition in the northern hemisphere, two bonus point wins and we are in with a very good chance of qualifying as I think we can beat Toulon at home and we are more than capable of going to the Rec and getting a win. Benetton have been well beaten by Glasgow, Munster and Leinster this season and as we rightly now class ourselves as in that league of teams we should be able to do the same home and away. There will be resistance, and more resistance than previous seasons but with everyone firing we are more than capable.

Understand the principle but why would you rest Patchell? Has only played about 30 minutes rugby in 5 weeks!!!!!

Gardiner had a reputation as a strong scrummaging tight head, but recently seems to have been penalised often. Someone who understands much more than me about the dark arts says that a lot of this is due to very poor decisions by referees (who might know even less than me about it). If our coaches agree with this then I would be tempted to start with Simon, hoping for penalties of our own to build up a lead and help grind Treviso down, then unleashing Kruger  in the period when we hope to be running in bonus point tries. Same logic as keeping back Cawdor  and also the way England grind down the opposition for an hour and score heavily toward the end.

Scrums can be a lottery though and Kruger offers a lot more than Gardiner. It would be madness to use him as an impact sub. His work in the maul is very good and he has the strenght to power over the gainline 5 metres out to score, something which Samson seems to be lacking and Gardiner hasn't shown yet.

Losing Samson for 6 weeks is a huge blow. Lets all hope he gets himself 100% as he a very important player. Kruger is not the scrummager that Samson is but all his other work is top drawer. Kruger needs to be at his durable best for the next 6 weeks.

I agree - refs are so poor at understanding who is doing what in the scrums - with Kruger, you get a lot of work around the park, plus he usually holds his own in the tight. He must start.

I share no-one's ideas. I have my own.

I agree. Anyone know how Nicky is doing on loan by the way? Seems Gardiner has passed him in our pecking order which would be a shame.

From what I read recently on this forum we can forget Nicky. Seems Sebastian is now our 4th choice.

Still think Rob Evs should have been taken off as soon as he was injured rather than let him hobble on for 10 mins v AllBlacks. Then added to that, they made him play the Boks game whilst obviously limping despite all the strapping.

Rob had not trained all week but was selected to start surely Wyn could have started with Nicky Smith on bench hope Rob his 100 fit and raring to go the weekend .

Scrum with Nicki Smith and Scott Andrews as props there would have been scorch marks in grass our scrum would have been going back so fast.

Dan Jones is way too class for the select 15 in case he gets a knock. Asquith best at 12 I think. Dan's biggest problem on the bench is not having versatility can he play 15?
