The Williams-Anscombe-Halaholo-Lilo combination is doing well, Jarrod Evans is a good back-up at 10 and they've just signed two Wales wings and have a good back row. They just need to sort out their tight 5. So I don't know why they'd let Anscombe go now or how the skint Ospreys could afford him when the Blues can't.

if all is true then I can honestly see a lot of sense in it, the money they have just saved can now be used for the front 5.

I my opinion they need 2 new loose heads, 1 tight head, 1 hooker and at least another second row, big shopping list in all ways.

I am assuming the younger props are not quite up to a full season of rugby.

Be careful when you pick up the stick.........IT MAY BE THE WRONG END!!!!!!!!!!

Totally confused as Ospreys were bankrupt last December and talks of merging with the Blues so how can they all of a sudden afford to sign Anscombe?? Confused

Positional issue I reckon, Patchell left as he wanted to play 10 as well. If Anscombe is Wales 10, no point in him playing 15 for his club.

Sam Davies would certainly be worth a look at for next season. He has pace, he’s quite big for a OH, just like Patchell, and has the ability to attack the gain line and play very flat, but with a huge boot to clear danger.
Another way to look at the Ospreys signing Anscombe is that they were expecting Sam to be moving on at the end of the season and wanted to announce an international replacement for him before announcing his departure (hiding bad news behind good news).

If, & this is a big if, it was an option between the 2 I would prefer Owen Williams.

How many games has Anscombe actually started for Wales? He’s in the same price band as Rob Evans. Does that mean Rob can have a hissy fit over wanting more money?

The point is that I don't think Rob will. He was happy to stay. Says more about Anscombe in my view.

Of course. Anyone could. That’s the nature and some say the recurring problem with any sort of pay banding.
Someone will always be in band you think you are equally entitled to be in....

Members need to be a little careful making assumptions about the Ospreys financial woes. Apart from the Dragons the other 3 regions are totally reliant on key benefactors to keep trading. The Ospreys in Rob Davies have a benefactor with very deep pockets. I would be surprised if Anscombe's move had anything to do with money. He wants to play 10 and the Ospreys have given him assurances just like we did with Rhys.

Sam Davies would be a good target for us.
