Very similar to our non committal to the Line-out Maul ... Very misconceived idea that there's an offside line at the tackle !
Herman Tours ... Still the best way to travel !

Thanks for this. Most interesting.
Any offence taken on board is only a literate/cy consequence. Every attempt at humour is just that. No personal insult intended. Standards lowered for trolls.

Fair play, anyone adopting that at lower levels would cause havoc John.

Exactly, got to be honest, if I saw that initially I'd be scratching me head wondering why defenders were standing behind the nine. Particularly if the tackler hadn't moved siffiiciently far away from the tackled player immediately

Really interesting that. Similar to the tactic employed at a lineout to prevent a maul from forming. There's another article on this website that analyses this as used by Ireland's forwards under Easterby's tutelage and by no coincidence employed by us too. As we are rubbish at defending the driving maul, any tactic to avoid them is more than welcome.

I find it hard enough reffing U10 rugby with only two from each side involved in the rucks and mauls.

LOL exactly Rob, someone standing like a mugger behind the scrum half shortly after a tackle would be too much.

Fortunately, as John says, we probably wont see too much of it.

There's another difference between the Saes & us .... U11's & below in Wales Maul's not allowed ... Penalty (Free) Kick !
