Very similar to our non committal to the Line-out Maul ... Very misconceived idea that there's an offside line at the tackle !

Really interesting that. Similar to the tactic employed at a lineout to prevent a maul from forming. There's another article on this website that analyses this as used by Ireland's forwards under Easterby's tutelage and by no coincidence employed by us too. As we are rubbish at defending the driving maul, any tactic to avoid them is more than welcome.

I find it hard enough reffing U10 rugby with only two from each side involved in the rucks and mauls.

LOL exactly Rob, someone standing like a mugger behind the scrum half shortly after a tackle would be too much.

There's another difference between the Saes & us .... U11's & below in Wales Maul's not allowed ... Penalty (Free) Kick !
