OK OK The Ref is wrong !!!! well technically anyway. Some time ago the rule was changed (at the request of the ARU) to take into account "Actual" time rather than "Ball in play" time. 15 minutes of Actual time probably equates to 10 minutes "Playing" time anyway
The "new" rule is as follows. 3.10 TEMPORARY REPLACEMENT (a) When a player leaves the field to have bleeding controlled and/or have an open wound covered, that player may be temporarily replaced. If the player who has been temporarily replaced does not return to the field of play within 15 minutes (actual time) of leaving the playing area, the replacement becomes permanent and the replaced player must not return to the field of play. Anyway I'm invoking Refs (not IRB) law 2..... When the ref billys up.... refer to rule 1 Rule 1.... The Ref is ALWAYS right !! |
