NSS.

Ah, but......

.....a Home Office spokeswoman said the committee were "incorrect in their assertions".

She added: "All of our decisions throughout the pandemic have been guided by the science, with appropriate measures introduced at the right time to keep us all safe."

In other words, the scientists got it wrong not us. Who would have thought they would use that excuse. Thumbs Up

Well some buggers got it wrong thats for sure!!!! Many on here, myself included, were calling the situation at our borders from March through to June unbelievable with millions allowed into the Uk from all over the World. It doesn't take a rocket scientist or a select committee to point that out to us.

I have not heard of anyone, anyone with an ounce of sense that is, supporting the Govt's border policies through April and May.

There were scientists in the UK advocating strict border controls  but one of the big mistakes the government made was to limit the number of scientists advising them to a small group and to ignore many eminent scientists who were advocating strict border controls amongst other key public health measures such as track and trace.

Had the government taken advice from a wider group then maybe they would have a point, but they can’t blame the science advise when they ignored some pretty eminent UK scientists (not to mention WHO scientists) who were advocating a different path to the one they were taking.

That's the Scarlets, its in their DNA.

The Cummings affair showed me how little respect the Government have for the public. And during a global pandemic no less!

1. Cummings's barefaced lies.
2. The refusal of Johnson or Hancock to say he acted incorrectly.
3. Scientists/medics who did criticise him were then removed from their advisory positions.
4. Followed by the continued claim they are "following the science"

Another example:
Refuses to investigate russian interference then just after the report make a Russian billionaire and massive Tory donor a Lord! A giant f you to democracy.

They are negligent, corrupt and unethical.

I would add another description - totally lacking in leadership. I totally understand why Boris rates Cummings. He is his chosen right hand man. Having said that surely he should have realised that the eyesight testing trip was going to scupper Cummings' statement.

There would have been no need for dismissal just an unequivocal acceptance by Boris that Cummings had got it wrong; deem it not sackable & move on - slap on the wrist time. Instead he makes himself look like a leader in name only.

The final judgement on this horrendous period in our history is yet to be written; in fact we aren't even done with the 1st wave. There will be many lessons to be learnt when this is all over, many countries will be judged even more harshly than ours but that will in no way alter the sad, inescapable fact that thousands of British people died needlessly because of government policy.

Like every other Government we have had then.

Just noticed that Real Madrid are playing in Manchester tonight.
I assume they flew in from Spain yesterday.
Surely they have to Quarantine for 14 days before they can play, or am I being naive thinking that the rules only apply to those without money and influence.

Keep the faith

They make exceptions for sporting events and film / tv sets as they get tested regularly and tend to stay in their own ‘bubble’ outside the general population.

So when the Real Madrid bubble and press corps, say a hundred or so persons gets back to Spain, they all stay together till the next match, don't go home to their families and friends, and the equivalent Man City bubble who have been in close contact with the Spanish bubble also stay locked up and don't go home to their families and friends, I think not!!  Another inconsistencie in Government policy and thinking process.  Football is just another business and any other business trading with Spain should be given the same latitude.
Keep the faith

It is like that really.

When the games coming up between the regions in a couple of weeks, all concerned will be in a bubble for the whole sequence of games.

That period of isolation starts soon, players have been tested every week for some time now too.

They are negligent, corrupt and unethical.

And doing nothing about the asylum seeker crisis. The number of people who’ve tested positive out of them is very high.

What are the restrictions placed on players’ household members etc?

Once players enter the isolation bubble there’s no family access until the end of the sequence of games.

Bale didnt bother entering the bubble this week as zizou wont give him a squad place. Madrid are paying Bale £600,000 a week but employing a manager who wont pick him. Yet madrid wouldnt let bale leave either?

Meanwhile the fans blame it on bale when in reality zizou and the bosses couldnt run a bath

That’s 100% how it should be, albeit not much fun for families etc

Good to read.
