Nor do I expect the thugs of the Met to storm a rally of this type. If they can't police a gathering of this sort without charging in,spoiling for a fight then they shouldn't be doing the job.  Any sympathy gained after the shooting of their colleague in Croydon yesterday has been dispelled by their actions today.  Here's the account of a friend who was there and is still disturbed by their actions - 'The police blocked us in and then sent in the riot police for no reason.  It was totally peaceful and joyous,  they just stormed us.  Afraid, I tried to leave but I was blocked by a line of police.  Eventually, I managed to run away after the riot police had passed.  This was not normal......'

Demonstrators were asked to leave and police said anyone who stayed could be subject to enforcement.

In a statement, the Met said: "Crowds in Trafalgar Square have not complied with the conditions of their risk assessment and are putting people in danger of transmitting the virus.

"This has voided their risk assessment and we have informed the event organisers they are no longer exempt from the regulations.

"By leaving now, you can keep yourself safe and avoid any enforcement action being taken by officers," the statement added.

"By flagrantly gathering in large numbers and ignoring social distancing, you are putting your health and the health of your loved ones at risk," he said

They cant criticize 1 march for breaking socialy distancing rules and yet condone another, stop them all or none at all.

Sounds like a bunch of tree huggers to me. No mass gatherings should have been allowed full stop. If its ok for thousands to march in protest at one thing or another it is ok for us all to visit PYS to watch the Scarlets.

I find it embarrassing that whilst there’s a pandemic happening killing thousands of peoples there are rugby supporters out there having little pouts because they can’t go to a game.

With every pub in the land turfing out punters at exactly 10pm you are seeing 1000s of revellers all hitting the pavement at the exact same time and guess what? They all bunch together , chat , sing , chant , hug and cwtch, drink cans on the streets and spread the covid like marmite.

Hows about the police and councils get staff together to be present 10 till 11 outside these pubs to disperse crowds?

In Marseille, bars and restaurants are closing for a week to try and combat the rising rate of infections.

Makes sense when you can't go into peoples houses or visit relatives, but you can go to the pub or restaurant while in lockdown!!

Weve discussed the effectiveness of marches and protests and mob rules, Ive been a harsh critic especially during a pandemic. However I heard 1 uplifting local tale earlier of people power , which had somehow escaped my attention previously...
The great burry port SOS of 1969..Anyone know more about this?

After utilising pembrey parc for building weapons galore in world war 1, the ministry of defence were after a massive land grab in 1969... With no consultation , the govt tried to pilfer all of pembrey coastline, all the way from burry port half way to carmarthen to take it away from public use. The army wanted to send in their  fighter planes, to build more weapons and practice using them...But the locals all rebelled against it and fought a long and painful battle to prevent such a travesty. In the end they got their public enquiry and the land grab was quashed.Clap

The whole coast would have been lost but for these people...We're standing on the shoulders of giantsHug

I believe in Wales we are allowed to stay open, but not serve, until 22:20, which should help prevent what you have suggested above.
