No one has had any experience of delivering anything like this. Problems are occurring in many parts of the UK it seems. We're well ahead of other countries apparently.

Gethin has virtually no medical experience. And there are many people with experience not just in the medical world but also with experience of pandemics and mass vaccinations. Gethin is way out of his depth

There will be many very capable people with experience of logistics which is the issue here. Whether it is getting 1000's tonnes of aid into central Africa or moving people & kit to battle zones or simply moving tonnes of fresh produce from Spain to the shelves of British supermarkets. Gethin & Drakeford must carry the can for not planning for this programme properly. A simple apology saying you are working hard to solve the issues is far better than trying to cover the problem up with misinformation. When will politicians learn that you cannot fool all of the people all of the time.

The current UK cabinet is shocking really with some genuinely stupid people in it, selected purely for their Brexit stance, party loyalty or ability to get party votes or please party funders. Intelligence, problem-solving and even planning skills are minimal. It's been cronyism to a level I haven't seen before. Deflection and a lack of accountability have appeared to hide their failings. The end result in a pandemic is then unsurprising. I don't know as much about the Senedd as I have only recently returned to Wales but have always known about the dominance of the Labour party of course. I admit to seeing the Tories as an open party for the rich and against any form of social mobility or equality (e.g. state schools, NHS etc), but wouldn't be surprised if Labour have the same lack of quality. This pandemic has really exposed how poor the actual governing ability of our politicians is.

Its ironic really that the one who seems to have handled it better than most, not a difficult job I will agree, is facing a very tough period where she could well lose her job. The revenge of Alex Salmond is coming back to haunt his erstwhile prodigee.

Sturgeon? How could she lose her job? Thought she was safe. But a week is a long time in politics...

Well Alec, the wily only fox, fresh from winning his case against a number of women who accused him of being inappropriate has turned his attention to the conduct of the SNP in general and Nicola in particular. She said she had only been made aware of the accusations in a private meeting between her and Alec at her home for which she made no formal notes. It transpires that she had been told about the charges previously by one of Salmond's advisers officially. She says she forgot that first meeting. She stands accused of misleading the Scottish parliament which if found guilty would result in immediate removal from office in any but these strange times. All of this internal feuding, of course, is music to Boris' ears.

21,882 first doses of the vaccine administered in Wales over the last 24 hours. Substantial improvement from yesterday’s figure of ~15,000. Let’s hope that they can keep and improve that rate after a very disappointing start to the vaccination here in Wales.

Yes that's good, and case levels below 1,000 for the first time in quite a while.

Our GP practice which straddles the border is now getting vaccine supplies from both Hywel Dda and Swansea Bay health boards. Great news for reaching the top priority groups locally.

Yes thats a good daily total, I read wales is up to 212,000 now UK 5.83 million jabs (5383000 first jabs and 466k second jabs) Since new year wales now averages 8600 a day Uk first jabs and UK 244k a day average first jabs we need to be at 11700 a day to keep up At current average rate in a months time Uk total jabs should be 12.67 million so need to up it a bit to hit mid feb 15 million target Wales at this same average would be about 470,000 On Feb 22nd But obviously as long as the pfizers keep coming then we expect this daily average to rise These averages are not including the 2nd jabs which wales is miles behind on Edited by roy munster - 7 hours 5 minutes ago at 5:51pm |
