Yes, I read the article last week. We forget that when a player has to retire, whether that is their own decision or through a career ending injury, it leaves most of them in a very alien position. They’ve been cocooned in the bubble of professional sport all their working lives, surrounded by similar people, with similar goals and ambitions, and then find themselves out of work (well, work they have done for the past few seasons at least) with often no professional qualifications to fall back on.
I’ve also read in the past, stories of players not receiving the support post career that some obviously would benefit from.
I wish him all the best for the future and look forward to see him commentating on rugby or doing some punditry, as he is an astute student of the game.

Any offence taken on board is only a literate/cy consequence. Every attempt at humour is just that. No personal insult intended. Standards lowered for trolls.

Yes it’s sad but he is showing great courage and I hope he gets better or at least copes with his illness.

A refreshing and disturbing piece, in equal measures.

Dafydd probably predated the era of the higher earnings that his on field accolades would have got him a decade or so later.. so an early career end is twice as hard to manage.

Hid journey is one we should all try and support in some way. He gave the shirt everything he had.

He’ll come through I am pretty sure. Just a message for us blokes. It’s ok to say you are not ok and help a fellow in need if you can.

That was dark time in the Scarlets imho. The treatment of Dafydd amongst others was shabby.

Dafydd was a quality player who seemed to thrive on the big occasion. I wish him well his health issues and for him to know that he's always warmly received at the Scarlets.

Judas James when he first left was uncalled for.
