Very bad luck - Weir was a stalwart of the Scotland side for many seasons. He's quite young to get MRD, unless it's one of those things you can get at any age? I'm sure he'll get massive support from his family, friends and the wider rugby community.
I share no-one's ideas. I have my own.

Sad to read this. Quite a player for Scotland. Not surprised at his positive approach to tackling the disease.
What's going on?

Terrible news, I lost a good friend to MND a number of years ago. Wishing him every strength through his fight. Cry

Poor guy. A real character. I believe Doddie was a farmer.

He is a farmer and I know people who know him. He is well-respected in the Borders and a commentator at Agricultural Shows and an after dinner speaker. He is also one of the last representatives of the Scottish Borders farmers who made it to the top level as rugby players. I wish him and his family well and hope they can bear this which comes pretty soon after another early death of a close relative.

And of course, this is why we have the HIAs.

Sad tale. The legendary life with the Lions documentary is on TV tonight about the 1997 Lions in South Africa -superb sporting documentary with Jim Telfer, John 'Bentos' Bentley and Doddie etc. Worth a watch.

Oh damn it all, thats such sad news. The man is an absolute diamond. Who could ever forget his horror injury with the lions too. He seems to be attacking this disease with such positivity too. He sounds focused on raising awareness and funds to tackle MND ...God bless you big man
