Setting up a new competition - similar format to HC

Open to teams from other nations.. which is kind of them....

Big news, I guess both sides of the story have a point. One side is that all countries should have teams representing and the other is that it's not fair for some English and French teams.

The HC in its current form enables countries like Italy and Scotland to strengthen, which in turn makes European/ 6 Nations a better comp.
The self serving English and French need to be careful what they wish for.
Expansion not contraction is the key to making European rugby stronger.

Exactly.
And that's why so many sports spend so much time focusing their efforts on widening participation, even in supposedly weaker countries.
Any offence taken on board is only a literate/cy consequence. Every attempt at humour is just that. No personal insult intended. Standards lowered for trolls.

why not simply have a 2 leg play off for the last few Heineken spots between the respective sides on the cusp of qualification in the celtic and the English/French?
