What's the opinion on him avoiding a suspension?

I think it goes back to the days of the old Welsh League when refs did not send off Welsh internationals before major international tournaments in case it damaged their careers (ie the ref's career not the player!).
These days it seems the WRU are willing to brush it under the carpet if a ref dares to red card a Welsh squad member before a major tounarment. This may seem a bit strong with Ryan Jones being the only example so far, but how else can last night's decision be explained?
I doubt if the ERC disciplinary would have come to the same decision if he'd been sent off in a HC match - just ask Richard Mustoe.

Um, no he didn't.  The ref reports state that is was a stamp to the body, not the head.

Good decision by the WRU.

Ain't they the ones who decided to buy Stradey off us to keep us afloat?  I'd say that was a good decision as well.

TV evidence is inconclusive at best.  Look HERE for footage (post number 19)

The only person who saw it was the ref.  He said it was a stamp to the body.

You can't actually tell anything from that footage and tbh they were going backwards so I can't see how he could have stamped on anyone let alone his head. On the other hand the ref was there and he did a double take and then blew his whistle.

If he had thought that he'd stamped on the back of a player then he would have had a yellow card and not red. I think something here stinks and that the wru are behind it. 6 nations coming up and all

I hope so. It's about time our union got a bit more street wise. The English have been helping out their national side like this for years.

So what you're saying then is that if it's an international player it's ok for them to stamp and get away with it. Same should apply to all.
