It seems that Llandovery wing Ifan Evans (I think that's his name) has been scoring a lot of tries for the Wales 7s team in Hong Kong.

Has anyone seen him play? Would he be worth a punt at regional level - or not?

He was called up to Parc y Scarlets for the Ospreys game because he wasn't able to play for us.  Normally, being a good 7's player isn't that indicative of having the right qualities for the 15-man game.  I suppose wing might be an exception to that.

Didn't he make the bench against the Ospreys?

Yes he was on the bench, but didn't come on.

Thanks for the information. Maybe he'll get a game before the end of the season, which would give us a chance to see what he's got.

Watched him playing in the Hong Kong 7's a few weeks ago and he looked very impressive - powerfully built and seems to have a good turn of speed. Now that Daf James is on his way, it'd be a good opportunity to see what he's like in the last couple of games this season.

Talking about wingers what is the situation with the three who play at the back for Aberafan? They looked very impressive in the semi-pro semi.

Bearing in mind that Tal Selley had player of the tournament at the recent world Cup and is a dog s**t 15's player I hardly think that a good 7's player/performance is any indicator of their abiliy to step up o Magners/HC strandard. Ifan Evans has good power and speed but not enough knowledge and skill for the 15 a side game of a modern winger.

True, but you can't assume Ifan's abilities would be anything like Tal's just because they play 7's together.

He's defo worth a run out, just to see what he's like, and as others have already posted, these last few games could be an ideal opportunity! Thumbs%20Up

With him being Welsh, he wouldn't take up an NWQ spot either Thumbs%20Up

I've seen him about five times, including appearances for Wales U21, and whenever he's had the ball he has looked dangerous and a great finisher. I'm baffled why he hasn't had more opportunities. Only Lee Williams's lack of appearances at scrum half is more baffling.
