Yet another great youth prospect gets his chance for Ulster!! LOLLOL:

Ulster have announced the signing of former South African full-back Stefan Terblanche as a short-term replacement for the injured Jared Payne.

The 36-year-old, who won 37 caps for the Springboks, has agreed a three-month contract with the Belfast club.

Terblanche made his final appearance for the Natal Sharks in last Saturday's Currie Cup final defeat by the Lions.

Ulster were allowed to recruit another foreign player after Payne ruptured his Achilles in a match against Treviso.

Terblanche made his Sharks debut in 1999 before joining Welsh club Ospreys in December 2003.

He returned to South Africa, and the Sharks, for the 2007 Currie Cup season in which he made his 100th appearance for the club.

"At this stage in the season, with players all under contract, it was always going to be difficult to recruit a high-calibre individual to provide cover for Jared," said Ulster Director of Rugby David Humphreys

"But we delighted we have been able to convince Stefan not to hang up his boots just yet."

Terblanche will be reunited with former Sharks team-mates Johann Muller and Ruan Pienaar at Ravenhill.

I think this guys been lying about his age, he had the pace of a 36 year old about 5 years ago, reckon he's in his 40's.

Al08 will be rocked to the core by this, rumour has it there's a 16 year old Ulster fullback who's a cert for the Lions in 2 years, what on earth will he make of his opportunities being snatched away from him?????

... so they went for an Ospreys reject instead.

What a joke of a signing. I really dislike Ulster, their main backs overseas signing of the summer is crocked so what do they do, sign a 36 year old SA replacement who was past it 4 years ago!! Give the kids a chance mun....

They actually have a decent prospect in the back 3 in Gaston and I don't think he's played once this season.

Where's Al08 when you need him???

A truly awful signing and a massive kick in the teeth for any other young South African they could have signed.
History, despite its wrenching pain, cannot be unlived, but if faced with courage, need not be lived again.

Anyway, he'll do alright. Terblanche has been playing very well this season for the Sharks. Add Cave, Faloon, Terblanche, Best, Ferris and Afoa to that team we should be alright.

Our world cup players had shockers at the weekend, as did those RWC players playing for othet teams. We'll go unbeaten in November, wait till you see.
