Could/should we have a song book on this site for all our supporters - all the lyrics in one place? The singing this season has been aamzing but we could do even better! As a start here are the words to 'yma o hyd'. There are others dotted around the site but it would be good to pull them all together.
YMA O HYD Dwyt ti'm yn cofio Macsen, does neb yn ei nabod o Mae mil a chwe chant o flynyddoedd yn amser rhy hir i'r co' Aeth Magnus Maximus o Gymru yn y flwyddyn tri chant wyth tri A'n gadael yn genedl gyfan, a heddiw - wele ni! Chorus: Ryn ni yma o hyd! Ryn ni yma o hyd! Er gwaetha pawb a phopeth (x3) Ryn ni yma o hyd!
Chwythed y gwynt o'r dwyrain, rhued y storm o'r môr Hollted y mellt yr wybren a gwaedded y daran encôr Llifed dagrau'r gwangalon a llyfed y taeog y llawr Er dued y fagddu o'n cwmpas, ry'n ni'n barod am doriad y wawr!
Cofiwn i Facsen Wledig adael ein gwlad yn un darn A bloeddiwn gerbron y gwledydd 'Byddwn yma hyd Ddydd y Farn!' Er gwaetha pob Dic Siôn Dafydd, er gwaethaf y gelyn a'i griw, Byddwn yma hyd ddiwedd amser, a bydd yr iaith Gymraeg yn fyw!
Here StillYou don't remember Macsen, who was he? You don't know One thousand and six hundred years is far, far too long ago. When Magnus Maximus left Wales three eighty three was the year He left us as a nation, and today – we are still here!
Chorus: We're still here today! We're still here today Despite everything and everyone (x3) We're still here today.
Let the wind blow from the East, let the storm from the sea roar Let the sky split with lightning, let thunderbolts shout encore. Let the faint-hearted keep wailing, let the serfs grovel and fawn In spite of the darkness around us, we're ready to greet a new dawn.
Remember that old Prince Macsen, left our country as one Let's shout out to all the nations 'We'll be here until Kingdom come!' Despite all the collaborators, despite "the old enemy". we're alive We'll be here for ever and ever, and the Welsh language will survive! Words by Dafydd Iwan, copyright Cyhoeddiadau Sain |

We could introduce I'r Gad by Dafydd Iwan, just the chorus, twice.
I'r Gad, i'r Gad, Dewch Cymry hen ac ifanc...Clap, Clap..Dewch i'r Gad. Repeat. Easy tune, easy to sing and everyone clapping together would be great. The non welsh speakers could pick it up easy. roughly translated its To the battle, to the battle Come the welsh, old and young, come to the battle.

I think a song book is excellent, particularly for the non-welsh speakers like me.
Glad Tim suggested a new tune. One of the things which has drawn me back into following the Scarlets more closely in recent times has been the rejuvenation of the singing e.g y lan y mor I think it'd be great if the really stalwart singing supports looked to expand the repertoire even more. For me, the two most beautiful Welsh melodies are Myfanwy and Arglwydd Dyma Fi (spelling?). They're more lilting than rousing, but I think there's room for them if they're not already being sung. I don't think it matters what the subject matter is - the fact they're traditional Welsh tunes is enough. Someone did tell me that ADF is only sung at funerals - I have no idea what it's about! My Welsh (or my singing) isn't good enough to kick start these, but I'd love to join in! Apologies if they're already in the repertoire - I don't get to that many games tbh. Got my Munster ticket through the post today though - can't wait! |

Arglwydd Dyma Fi / Mi glywaf dyner lais (same song but people use both titles), is one of my favourites. It's so emotional and the chorus which is usually sung with more pasion than the verses always makes me cry.

Great post, your spot on, if anyone can it will be the brilliant Scarlet supp9orters, quite simply the current support is the best suppor the Scarlets have ever enjoyed. Well thats my view after following them for 39 years.
Quite simply, ground breaking supporters.

A more warlike hymn - which used to be sung regularly at rugby matches - is 'I bob un sy'n ffyddlon', to which was added a special (and probably inappropriate) 'Hallelulia'!
It would be great if Scarlets fans took this up again, though I think new songs should be introduced only one or two at a time. Too many at once, and we'll end up with too few people knowing the words! |

I love it too Multi, but we'd have to follow it up with something uplifting, its a tad on the depressing side.
