At a Disciplinary hearing in Dublin today, the citings against Matthew Rees and Rhodri Jones of the Scarlets were dismissed by an independent RaboDirect PRO12 disciplinary committee.

The committee, chaired by David Martin (Ireland) and also comprising Philip Orr and George Spotswood (both Ireland) heard the two players’ explanations of the incident in which Ryan Jones (Ospreys second row) was lifted from the ground during a tackle in the sixteenth minute of the match between Scarlets and the Ospreys on Boxing Day.

They also considered the video evidence together with statements from the tackled player and the referee and his two assistants and found that Ryan Jones had in fact been brought to ground safely as mandated by Law 10.4 (j) and emphasised by the IRB in its June 2009 directive.

Both players are able to continue playing.

The citing officer should be cited for incompetence.
It's not always about where you end up, it's about how you get there.

Excellent news that this laugh had been thrown in the trash. What a waste of time, energy, resources, effort, fuel and tyres and hair gel.

In 1972, Roy Bergiers scored that try and said "that was for you lofty"

"All you have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us"

Good, glad to hear it ! Still a waste of time and resources though. Two players had to make a trip to Dublin today when they should/could have been training for our next game !

Gwastraff llwyr !

I hope someone has a word with the Citing Commissioner. And by the way, well done to RJ. Seems that he supported our players !

Few quotes from Nigel about it - doesn't take a genius to work out he's pretty p155ed off it was even brought forward as a citing.

Scarlets boss Nigel Davies was satisfied with the outcome and pleased his players were able to give evidence via video link.

“We are pleased the players have been cleared and no disciplinary action taken with the right and proper conclusion having been arrived at,” said Davies.

“It was important to allow us to use technology to conduct the hearing without causing us major disruption during an important week.

“This is a vital period of rugby for us and common sense prevailed.

“We appreciated we were entitled to put forward our evidence in this way and a group of us did not have to take a full day and costs of travelling to Dublin and back.

“Some decisions can have a major impact on team preparations and we hope everyone involved in the professional game appreciates the affect that can be caused.

“We are pleased with the outcome and we were able to minimise disruption to our preparations this week.”
