Exactly. You could have had Clancy!!!

I have to admit it was hilarious as the ashes settled on another Cardiff scrum destroyed and his hand popped up giving a penalty against you.

To be fair Rolland did ok in the Northampton game. He just needs to keep an eye on the 'sealing off'.

Surely there will be time enough to do our customary forensic analysis of the referee's performance AFTER the game.  Whining about him now shows a depressing lack of self-confidence.  Let's hope the team listen and learn from him what not to do in this particular game.  Ref's are like the weather, the pitch, and the opposition - factors you need to understand and take account of if you want to win.  Whinge about them by all means after we lose, but doing so before we've even played sounds like we're expecting to lose, and desperately preparing ourselves for that eventuality.

Has there ever been a game when anyone hasn't complained about a ref in any game with any team? Is there a perfect ref because I've never seen one.

Rolland is very poor at refereeing the breakdown. Watch Munster flop over/lie over/seal off all day long.

If you want a reminder at how poor he is at officiating the breakdown, rewatch Samoa v Wales from the rwc.

He isn't the worst ref out there, but he is probably the worst one we could have got with regards to how he ref's and how Munster play. They must be ridiculously happy.

Watch us struggle to get any sort of ball to work with.

Alain, if by any chance you are reading this, please prove me wrong.

I think this is the best we could hope for. He is better than Clancy and Fitzgibbon and the only other options really were Macpherson, Knox and Allan.

Im actually quite pleased with the appointment.

Why is it we never seem to be able to play the ref? One of our problems is we're not streetwise enough.

It's a big concern SA14, it usually takes us until about the 60th minute, if at all in a match, for us to finally figure out how to do it.

Munster are masters at it.

Highlighted perfectly on Sunday!

It was clear that the ref was very twitchy about giving cards, he had already given them 2 and seemed almost desperate to 'even things up'. Up until Josh's card they barely looked like scoring and we would have been better off just allowing them posession until they made a mistake, rather than trying to play on the edge and giving him an excuse to punish us.

For the last 15 minutes of the first half and the first 5 of the second half we barely gave away a penalty, in the next 10 we managed to pick up a yellow card and concede a penalty try (off one scrum again Angry). This was purely down to the fact that we didn't read the ref and act accordingly.
History, despite its wrenching pain, cannot be unlived, but if faced with courage, need not be lived again.
