So:

To start with, this effort from Sean O'Brien, from behind, which knocked Sivivatu unconscious. The referee awared a yellow card, and it seems he hasn't been cited. Seems lenient to me:

That is truly awful. There is absolutely no attempt to go for the ball.

As a yellow was given this should have been the first incident to be looked at by the Citing Commissioner. It's on a par with what Hore did.

I thought this was not even a penalty. Knoyle seems to get to Walker the same time the ball does. Good timing if anything. A yellow card for this?

Which, lets not forget is the same punishment that Sean O'Brien got for the above video.

No way, that one was abysmal.

You see far earlier tackles than that go unpunished every week - especially when they occur on the try line defenders seem to be exempt from being penalised for tackling the player without the ball for some reason.

TK's right arm is not wrapping Walker. Seems to me as though TK was going for the ball and trying to knock it back.

COurtesy of the IRB:

DEFINITIONS

A tackle occurs when the ball carrier is held by one or more opponents and is brought to ground.
A ball carrier who is not held is not a tackled player and a tackle has not taken place.
Opposition players who hold the ball carrier and bring that player to ground, and who also go to ground, are known as tacklers.
Opposition players who hold the ball carrier and do not go to ground are not tacklers.

& I thought Jack Whitehall was a talentless comedian ! Wink
I asked the question to see if anyone actually knew the Laws of the Game !
Haydn as per usual came up with the goods !

The point I was making, was that, to be tackled you have to be the ball carrier !

When Tavis made contact, there was NO ball carrier, so there was no legal tackle !

I think it is if you own an establishment that will benefit from thousands of thirsty Irishmen turning up in the next stage! Kerching!

Ah, cheers for that! I can see it now. Totally unusual for the incompetent Wayne Barnes to see or give anything.

This thread should probably be called "Was the citing panel right?"

So. I personally think Bearman gets about what he deserves here. (4 weeks)

But No. 22? Jones - gets 3 weeks for a little lift. That's the same as Cian Healy got for trying to break Dan Cole's ankle. Harsh.
