A system giving students extra marks if they have suffered personal trauma is being defended by an exams authority. Type of trauma and % added
Recent death of parent or close relative - 5%
Recent death of distant family member - 4%
Witness to distressing event on day of exam - 3%
Hay fever - 2%
Death of family pet on day of exam - 2%
Pet dies day before exam - 1%
Headache - 1%
percentage if your team has a terrible season? |

so if you're in a field on the day of your exam with a headache caused by your hayfever and you sneeze causing a tree to fall on your parents and grandparents who are in a tent under the tree looking after a kitten who's mother died giving birth to it the previous day which you witnessed you get 18% extra marks?
