I won't watch Wales in ms again until he leaves. Think most region fans need to do this I know we don't fill that stadium but we contribute so ill be watching future Wales games in the red room. My only problem is about judgement day I went last year as we have to support our boys but its hard to do if it benefits rl's views and public image?

No..there's plenty of time to go in this battle and actually the time of year works in our favor. The deadline of 31st December is Lewis own deadline to the Regions so out of a matter of principle I wouldn't recommend signing it without a team of lawyers going through every single typographical character. Whats he going to do? Heck most people on31st December will be too p1ssed to even think what rugby's all about let alone think about an agreement. We do need Politicians involved now as this is a "cause celebre" as it isn't just one club / region - it's most of South Wales (sorry no dig at the North here so please don't hijack this stream) so we should aim to see anyone in Politics who has a pulse trotted out and throwing their input in. We need to make this entire process as emotional as they come, so toxic that no one will want to enter into a room with Lewis without a protective suit for fear of contamination. Past players and celebs need to get involved, Benny, The Might Quin whoever all need to get their collective @sses into gear and appear in photo's, quotes whatever. How about this as an idea for a Cult T Shirt? A mugshot of Lewis and Pickering with Prison Bars imposed and the by line: "Wanted: For Crimes Against Welsh Rugby" |

No but winning might - and that means more money for a competitive squad through International windows A better league might, with Teams from just across the border rather than in three other countries. Aren't those two objectives worth aiming for?

Actually the stats would appear to be against you there. Crowds might not be growing as fast as we'd like or would hope but they are growing slowly but surely. |

Lewis might have the funds and so called might of the WRU behind him but the one thing about communications today is that the Internet has made the place much more of a level playing field.
He has himself, a bunch of cronies and the WRU Press Office. There are thousands of us and we all have access to FaceBook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Digg and the others so lets spread the sh1t far and wide and make Lewis look so toxic he'll be right up there with such other luminaries as "Fred the Shred" Goodwin, Bob Diamond et al. Make him so toxic that folks would rather take Sunday School outings to Chernobyl or go swimming off the coast of [beep]ushima rather than sit in a room with Lewis. He has an ego the size of the UK, always has had since his the days of his involvement in Radio 1 so that's where we hit him. If he thinks or remotely smells that actually he could be presiding over the worst PR disaster in recent years to involve Wales then he will do a deal. His legacy / potential Knighhood or whatever will drive him to make some sort of compromise. What that compromise is could be is open to debate but he'll do a deal. We just have to hit him hard enough. |

Exactly. We 'had to' sell North last season, for a pittance. A bit of extra funding would have allowed him to stay (he didn't want to leave, by all accounts). This season, we're in the same boat with Foxy and (maybe) the Priest on their way. Without proper funding, the regions are just developing talent for the French and English clubs. |

More funding = keeping our best players and being able to attract better players which = winning more games which = bigger gates because we all know how fickle Scarlet fans are and they tend to only turn up in numbers when we're winning. Welcome by the way

The WRU PR machine is in full swing - we all need to counter and challenge their messaging with #UniteAndFight posts on Twitter.
Every WRU post is getting a few #UniteAndFight replies, including last night when WRU SPotY glossing was disrupted by RRW release.
But more are needed, every day! Get yourselves (and your brothers, aunties, mates) out there in the Twittersphere - keep it clean, but it's time to take the fight to them - it makes a difference, and WRU are very sensitive to it. |

So it seems the battle is for the Union to let us go without a fight.

Haven't seen this posted on here before:- http://www.espn.co.uk/premiership-2013-14/rugby/story/208383.html
Leicester Tigers boss Peter Tom has backed plans to expand the top flight to include the four Welsh regions. The English clubs will not be taking in part in next season's Heineken Cup as they refuse to take part in any competition run by European Rugby Cup Ltd. That leaves the English clubs with nine weekends worth of rugby to fill and they are exploring various options with matches against South African sides one possibility and also an expansion of the Premiership. And Tom claims an Anglo-Welsh league has been discussed. "The Welsh regions are all very keen to be competing in the Aviva Premiership from next season," Tom told the Rugby Paper. "We have discussed the matter at board level and given it our unanimous approval. The Welsh teams are 100% solid in their desire to join forces with us. They see the restoration of the traditional fixtures with the English clubs as the most effective way of bringing back the crowds they've lost in recent seasons. "We cannot march the Welsh teams to the top of the hill and drop them. The regions are fighting for their very existence but this isn't a one-way street. Every English club wants to fill its stadium and there's no question that the Welsh teams will give the Premiership a new dimension." The four Welsh regions are currently involved in a dispute with the Welsh Rugby Union over their right to play in cross-border competitions and the matter could end up in court. The four regions previously backed the breakaway Rugby Champions Cup but with the French giving the Heineken Cup their support, any plans for a club-run European competition are now on hold. The regions meet the WRU on Wednesday to thrash out talks regarding the ongoing player exodus and financial concerns and Tom believes the regions are in a good place to force change. "Clearly there are issues, not least between the Welsh regions and their Union," Tom added. "Even so, there is more than a possibility that it will happen otherwise we wouldn't have wasted time talking about it in the boardroom. I'm not a lawyer but based on our conversations with the Welsh, they appear to have a very strong case, assuming they decide to take legal action."
Key points in bold for me. Read more at http://www.espnscrum.com/premiership-2013-14/rugby/story/208383.html#VhbPhTqDf8i9eYzi.99 |
