Not exactly regional in the sense, but didn't think it merited a thread of its own.

Ulster are rumored to be bringing in Matt Giteau for the rest of the season replacing Christian Lealiifano who leaves the province after thier ERCC match against Wasps on the 21st January.

Dragons have signed 21 year old Welsh Qualified Huw Taylor from Worcester.
In fairness I have been critical of some of their business but this could be an astute signing.

Jackman has given the board a list of approx 14 new player he wants( not including the ones he’s already signed I.e. rhodri , rose and Jordan etc). He’s had over 10 of them agree to join. Others have not committed themselves yet. All quality players. Mostly welsh qualified. He’s also listed the players who are welcome to leave next year. That’s from a very reliable source.
The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.

He's only ever played one pro game...
that’s funny, his profile says he’s played 24.
https://warriors.co.uk/teams/huw-taylor/
If you don’t rate him or don’t think he’s a good signing it might help if you backed it up with some reasoning/analysis. He’s played in the England u20s, won a World Cup with them, has captained their A Team, is Welsh Qualified.
Let’s put it this way, he’s a better signing for them than Tom Price was for us, on pedigree, and Price has turned out to be a decent squad second row.

Tom Price has benefited from top class coaching with us. Huw Taylor would have better guidance where he already is

If hes only played 1 game in 4 years considering that he must have joined at 17 years old and the position he plays you cant really expect him to have played too much first team rugby , if hes played for england then he will be a decent player

Yep, cheers. I saw that. That doesn’t tell me whether or not you think it’s a good signing though, or why you think that.

I just think it's a punt. It may well turn out to be a good signing, but it may not. I just find it amusing how Dragons fans think signing the likes of Jordan Williams, Bevington etc will see them compete for the play-off's next season.

I don't quite get the constant negatives regarding the Dragons. The signing of the 21 year old Taylor is a good move surely. A regular starter for the England under 20's. What many are missing is that the intention of the signing of 12-15 players is meant to improve their team. Nobody at the Dragons is saying or thinking that this change will immediately make them pro 14 champions for goodness sake - only make them more competitive. I personally applaud the way they are going about their recruitment as long as it is financially sustainable and we have to accept that Mr Buttress certainly knows how to balance his books.

I don't agree with Jackman's policy of calling out players publicly and he may well live to regret those outbursts. We have seen with Pivac that he had to weed out some players early on who were negative influences. This he did but in private. A fundamental of a successful squad is unity for the cause.

Actually there are quite a few people within the Dragons that think that. I'm serious here

So far I would say only rhodri williams is a signing of any note. Still have a feeling that Ross will be a huge gamble, due to his injury record and Wales commitments

Looks like the Dragons will be fielding about 10 ex Scarlets next season.
