If the seasons becomes global and the 6 nations is moved to spring time, it seems the north americans (4 teams from usa/canada...houston, vancouver etc ) want to join our league apparently

big bucks from tv and sponsors , though the air fare will be staggering

tidy away day to watch us play in houston? sounds bizarre but if the money is on the table anything is possible

I would have thought we would play continuous way games, maybe 2 at a time e.g america1 week1 and america2 week2.

It'll be Scarlets holidays rather than long weekends that are being organised. Two weeks covering 3 matches in North America.

Agree...as long as the financials make sense. As I said elsewhere, ironically our connections to the Irish in the Pro 12 would make us a better option to the Americans than anyone else.

I don't see how this helps us to be honest. We already have a league that involves long journeys and little in the way of local rivalry. I know we probably have the option but Anglo-Welsh would be what I want.

It would have been great if the British & Irish League could have got off the ground but that idea has now gone at least for time being. I am a little confused by the basis of the intended USA franchises. The Eastern Seaboard is mentioned as it would reduce travel time & maximise the Irish & Italian populations in Boston & New York in particular. However I cannot see that Houston & Vancouver fit into this category at all.

The way to look at this is in terms of problems solved v problems created. One would hope or even expect this to solve our perennial money problem. If it doesnt put us on at least a par with the English/French moneywise then forget it. Possible problems created- travel/player fatigue. The latter being connected to our money shortage.

If we can overcome the problems, go for it.

You expect people to travel to the US every time we play?

How many Saffers travel to NZ when the Blues play Crusaders do you think?

This is not a fixture designed for away support to attend regularly surely.

Surely that's a downside then?

It may be a potential downside for some of our supporters but would it be balanced by a lucrative TV payout which, surely, would compensate. This move as opposed to the British & Irish league idea is only designed to solve our cash crisis. In the longer term it will help develop USA rugby however it will only add, in the short term, more low standard squads to a league which is already the poor relation.

It will almost cement the Pro12's reputation as a development league, as opposed to help push it towards being seen as a real top flight league.

Personally I think we have messed about with the league way to much.  We have gone from it being 4 Irish, 3 Scottish, 5 welsh and having the Celtic Cup when we began, to losing the Warriors, losing the Celtic Cup, losing the Boarders, adding the Italians, adding the play-offs, changing the European Qualification, and now talking about changing it again.  I would have though that if we wanted the league to grown, then we need to have some stability as opposed to all this chop and change.
