Too early for April fool. Unbeleivable news.  Things not going well financially for the big spending French clubs then?

Redundencies on the way?

The next club to dominate...I can see serious cash spent here as a City of Paris side.

That's a bit of a sweeping statement.

Rugby has never been a big sport in Paris, so in some ways one can see one of the reasons for amalgamations, the fan base.

I believe that both clubs are financed by multi millionaires so I honestly don't think finance is a reason.

I think this will really cause issues in France, when I was in Castres a few years ago fans were worried about the financial position and were thinking how Toulouse would react if there were genuine cutbacks on salaries.

The fans thought they would be amalgamated and become some sort of feeder club, with the money going to Toulouse.

Interesting.

Presumably this would lead to a lot of heavy ball carrying forwards being released. We should be all over that!!

Where has the money come from all of a sudden?

Even their back up players are out of our league, sad but true.

Either way, we can most certainly have a guess at what the new club name could possibly be:
  • Paris Pirates
  • The Eiffel Towers
  • The Love Club
Scarlets!!!

90 players to be halved into 45 by the coaches. The predicted fanbase of the team is 22k. It's basically Racing taking over Stade Francais but pretending it's a merger.

Nobody that's interested that we can afford, is my guess.

Local gov't in Paris not happy about this at all. They helped greatly with SF's renovation of Stade Jean Bouin a couple of years ago and now the "merged" team are going to play in Racing's brand new stadium in Nanterre sometime around September next.

SF supporters must be gutted.
