I don't really mind if we bring in players or not as long as whoever does play next season fits in comfortably with the amazing camaraderie the coaches have managed to create at PYS now. Any player is only as good as the bond with his team. With the number of injuries in the modern game it is far more important to have players that slot in and out of the team seamlessly than it is to have a few superstars. Any player can suffer good and bad form, it's the team that will carry them through the bad ones and help them back to their best.
For me the biggest threats to continued success is someone poaching our coaching team or money not been available to retain the local boys that are making their mark on the 1st team.

In a reply to a tweet yesterday asking if there were any more signings the Scarlets said:
'Never say never ;)'
Suggests to me there is more to come...

Nah. Bath or another Aviva club. He has never shown any interest in us and we don't want him dragged here either as 4th best choice club.

Is this your biggest scoop since David Lyons I wonder? Halfpenny has lost his fullback berth to Liam based on his lack of cutting edge in offence. If you wanted to improve that area of your game which club in the northern hemisphere would you go to to get that style of rugby? It wouldnt surprise me at all. If coming back home is a factor as well, well we are the best team in Wales. He'd put a couple of hundred on the season tickets sold log. If he did adapt his game and slotted into to our running style, yes, he would be a good signing. Your reputation is on the line here Henry.....("Dont believe a word" you say)

The Leigh Halfpenny who broke into the Blues team as a teenager playing on the wing would be a wonderful addition. I firmly believe that that player is still in there but he needs encouraging to play with vision & no fear. He has, for years, been told to play safety first for Wales & kick his points. He has performed this admirably for Toulon, Wales & the Lions. If he now genuinely wants to fight for his 15 shirt then there is no better club in Britain to play for than the Scarlets with their attacking/width philosophy. We also need to bear in mind that he may well struggle to be one of Gatlands picks if he plays outside Wales. This is also true of course with Liam.

For that to happen, they'd need to come up with lots more money, as they'll have spent their budget. Agree with those saying Aviva is more likely destination.

Halfpenny doesn't strike me as a very imaginative or innovative player and I believe that the superb rugby that we've been playing lately demands players capable of doing the unexpected and creating chaos for the opposition to try to deal with. His goal-kicking would be useful but not at the sort of money he's been holding out for.

Rumours going round Cardiff recently that the Blues, for some reason, are not keeping Aled Ward the current Wales U20 no8 who even has another year left at this level, and who was already showing promise, intelligence and maturity in the position last year. I've always been impressed with him and found him a courageous player, with good hands who gives 100% and although he may not yet be in the Nick Williams class as a ball-carrier, he will surely bulk up as he progresses. If he is actually available I think the Scarlets should make every effort to sign this excellent prospect. He could even share lifts with fellow former Glantaf player Patchell or several other Cardiff based Scarlets!
