As far as I'm aware, if, whilst juggling the ball, it hits anything before you bring it under control (ie, the ref, another player, the posts) it's a knock on, otherwise you can juggle it as much as you like.
So what happens when the receiver bats the ball with his hand to the next player in the line without actually grasping hold of it, which I've seen many times, is that not fully in control of the ball?
