Rob Evans and John Barclay will not travel to Toulon, both still undergoing HIA return to play protocols.

Pivac is hopeful of Leigh Halfpenny returning to play against his old club after sitting out the Ospreys game at the last minute.

With that news I would go with the following :-

Halfpenny, Jonny, Foxy, Scott, Steff, Rhys, Cawdor, Wyn, Elias, Samson, Jake, Tadgh, Aaron, Josh, Wil.
Bench Dylan, Ken, Werne, Bulbring, Lewis, Aled, Asquith, Hadleigh.

No way in the world Scott is above Parkes right now.

Huge loss without Barclay. I didn't realise they'd both need so much time to be allowed back. At least if they are ok to play v bath then they'll be fully charged with others on a 5 day turnaround!

Depends what type of game you want to play. Scott brings in the outside backs into the game far better than Parkes while Parkes can stick it up the jumper and plough forward better than Scott. If you want to see the type of rugby that won us the semi and final in Dublin last season then it has to be Scott.

Scott was in World Class form last year and was incredible in his battles with Basteraud and scored a beaut when we turned them over at home. He seems a little rusty at the moment, I'd stick with Parkes. But, depends on whether we go with Scott and keep Parkes on the bench as a back up 10.

I don't know - the next 2 games are going to take a lot of rotation, so keeping Foxy, Parkes & Scott fresh is going to be key to how these games pan-out.

Regardless, I'm bloody excited.

Agree particularly Barclay but the players health is paramount so it's understandable

Our team vs Toulon in 2014
15) Liam 14) Harry 13) Tagi 12) Scott 11) Kristian Phillips 10) Priestland 9) Aled
8) Pitman 7) Barclay 6) Shingler 5) Snyman 4) Ball 3) Samson 2) Emyr 1) Rob

Think how much stronger we are now - better wingers, centre partnership, scrum half, 8, second row, hooker.
Plus individuals like Shingler, Ball, Rob are far better players.

Watched that game back last night we had Pitman and Emyr yellow carded so we played 20 minutes with 14 men missed 5 points in kicks and lost 28-18,the turning point was a charged down kick after going 10-8 up and cost us 7 points .

I really fancy us to record a famous win on Sunday us Scarlets are coming for you !!

We definitely need to go up a couple of notches though. The pack hit a good intensity against the Ospreys in the second half last week. We have to have that for the entire game if we're going to have a good run in europe.

Looking again at last year's contest with Toulon it was noticeable how much bigger, on average, the Toulon players were. Some could even be described as overweight. Now this could be their strength or weakness. If they are allowed to grind us down like the Ospreys tried to do then it will obviously be to the Scarlets detriment as Toulon have more skillful backs than the Sprays put out. On the other-hand if we manage to get our running off-loading game going they will have a job keeping up with us, so a heck of a lot depends on how fussy/influenced by the crowd the ref is. Another Lacey type and we'll struggle.
Another thing in our favour should be the weather which unless I'm mistaken is supposed to be dry and warm, with the firm ground helping Samson's amazing, sidestepping, slalom runs over the line.

I think it shows how good our coaches are at the moment-. The Ospreys game and a couple of other games this season have been a complete turnaround second half. Just shows how good they analyse our opposition and can get our team to change their style of play going into the second half. This is backed up with well timed replacements too.
I don’t think we all appreciate what is going on behind the scenes.
Long may it continue.
