The great imponderables here are the injuries - I suppose that if fit, Cawdor and Ken are likely starters, but Ken's back injury is more likely to be a problem than Cawdor's shoulder knock. Otherwise, I'd agree with your 23 apart from my preference for a specialist 10 on the bench -Dan Jones - rather than Steff Hughes. I know that 'in theory' Parkes and Asquith can supposedly cover 10, but it's not a theory I'd care to test too often!

I’d go for
15. Halfpenny, 14. McNicholl, 13. Scott, 12. Parkes, 11. Steff Evans, 10. Patchell, 9. Gareth (if fit), 1. Rob Evans, 2. Elias, 3. Kruger, 4. Beirne, 5. Bullring, 6. Boyde , 7. Cubby, 8. Barclay
Subs: Wyn Jones, ken, Samson (if fit) or Gardiner, Rawlings, Cummins (if eligible) or Shingler, Asquith, Dan Jones, Aled.
So players need a rest, I include shingler, ken and Samson in that category but some also need to get back into the groove of playing like Patchell, Wyn Jones, Aled and Parkes. Beirne also needs to be back in his best position of lock, he’s done an admirable job in the backrow for most of this season but isn’t as effective as usual.

I would like to see Asquith have game time at 10 a class player Dan would benefit more by playing for the Select xv against Cornish Pirates next Sunday I feel ....

I would have thought Ken won't play either

Selection is going to depend on how the Welsh squad players are physically. Unfortunately I think Shingler needs a rest even if not injured so we have a big hole to fill but Barclay is back. Gatland suggested that Ken was very close to being fit so he should make it. Rob should not have started last Saturday so he needs a rest. Scott has played a lot of minutes so could probably do with a rest.

Cawdor, with our current crisis at 9, may have to start on the bench unless Mikey is back home so with all that in mind here is my team :-

Leigh, Jonny, Steff Hughes, Hadleigh, Steff, Rhys, Aled
Wyn, Ryan, Werne, Bulbring, Beirne, Barclay, Boyde, Cubby.
Bench : Ken, Dylan, Simon, Tom/Lewis, Josh, Cawdor/Mike, Asquith, Nicholas.

I have not selected Cummins because I don't think he's eligible.

Mike Phillips isn't regitered with us for Europe so it's either Gareth or possibly Dan Evans to cover scrum half.

Fair point but isn't there a special dispensation rule for injuries from the original named squad?

I believe so, but you've still got to do the paperwork and take a player out and then add one in. You wouldn't want to do that if Cawdor had a chance of making it. Don't take my word for it as it's only my read on the rules.
Keep the faith

It wouldn't surprise me if Rob Evs doesn't play. He was carrying a knock playing for Wales against SA.
