Can't believe Francis is on 26 caps! Samson is our only tight head so no pressure on him!

Samson s playing time has to be managed properly during the 6 nations. Wales have an awful track record with him in regards of injuries, and always seem to push him to the limit. Francis is a strong scrummager that can come on in the last 20/25 mins of every game. Him and wyn jones could do some damage coming off the bench.

The most contentious selection has to be Moriarty - not because he's a bad player, but because he's hardly played recently... others who are coming back from injury (North and Liam, for example) have rightly been left out for this game... the back row should have been Navidi at 8 (did pretty well there in the AIs, Shingler at 6 and Tipuric or Cubby at 7... a very bizarre selection there.
Hill is not great, but more mobile than Brad, so maybe that's why he's in. Anscombe indeed owes many of his caps to his NDC... he's no better than some others, but the WRU don't want to look as if they've wasted their money. He's tidy but no match winner. Let's hope, most of all, that the Scarlets selected don't forget what they've been taught by the region's coaches, and just go out and play as they do week in, week out - the rest will need to fit in with the pattern, IMO.

Agree with all of that aber-fan. If Moriarty has been demonstrating in training that he's sufficiently match fit then ok perhaps but looking in from the sidelines here it is a bit concerning, particularly when there are so many great back row options available. We don't want to see Moriarty coming off injured as a result of being put in too quickly.

Wouldn't surprise me if Ross pulls out before the match & that pushes Navidi to 8 & Tipuric to 7 with Cubby on the bench. |

Gatland has already stated that he is looking for 50-60 minutes from Ross. When he comes off Navidi to 8 and Tips to 7. Pretty sound logic. The flaw as I see it is that we seem to be ignoring at our peril the importance in modern day rugby attached to the breakdown.
This one area is seen by many experts as the major reason the Aviva teams did so poorly in the Champions Cup and here we are going into a game with Scotland who possess two excellent breakdown forwards with no recognised jackler in the starting 15.

At last some common sense from the coaches. Hopefully we will see Cubby made available for the Leinster match as I don't see him featuring against England unless, of course, we sustain some injuries on Saturday - please no. Gatland seems to be prepared to risk Liam if he comes through this week without a runout for Sarries. What is the point in rehabbing him to get him through the 6 nations only for him to eventually need an op?

Sadly I think he has released George because he has played very little rugby whereas Cubby has played a fair amount recently, so I am not hopeful of Cubby being released. Edited by Fscarlet - 31 January 2018 at 11:11am |

Hopefully howler and co wont take patches' confidence away. The fact they didn't pick him in the summer squad even with biggar and priestland absent, doesn't exactly fill him with confidence. Ignoring that though, Patch just needs to remember he lead us brilliantly from fly half to our first title in 13 years. He's now helped us through the group of death to our first european cup quarter final in a decade.
The kid has more talent than any fly half in Wales maybe the UK and Ireland too. He has pace , vision , bottle and strength. He has a lovely variety of kicks and can kid superbly off both feet too. He can hoof it a heck of a long way, can land penalties from over the halfway line and also a lovely passer off both hands. With his inside half , outside centres , right wing and full back all team mates he will have that familiarity. He just needs now to focus and make the right decisions ,with a split second less time in which to do so. Personally I think he's a natural and given a free rein and the confidence from the coaches he can run the show.

Wales centre Hadleigh Parkes' family make Cardiff journey
Hadleigh Parkes will have two special supporters in Cardiff when he makes his Six Nations debut for Wales against Scotland - his parents Bill and Janet. The couple missed his international debut in December when he scored two tries in a 24-22 win over South Africa. But they will fly from their home in New Zealand's North Island to see their son take on Scotland this Saturday. |

Wales missing 12 players, scots missing 11...their front row looks their weakest part maybe the front 5 too (French missing 9, england 15, ireland 11 and Italy just 4) wonder why the Iti's have so few injuries?
