I think easing congestion down Pwll would get more signatures mind.

Perhaps we could persuade the Senedd to extend it's Metro plans a little further west. I'm sure it would earn the support of our completely unselfish media  who could live in Cardiff and commute seamlessly to Llanelli and Carmarthen. I mean it's only one extra station and 20 miles from Porthcawl and it's near enough to the costal path for tourists and who will also want to see the home of  the Champions@ Cup Holders.

Wouldn't need to be a full blown state of the art station, a platform would suffice.

and of course GWR would lay on special trains to suit our disjointed kick off times.

🤪😂seriously though. It’s not even a good idea. It’s a train not a bus. Have you seen how close the stops would be? The cases against far outweigh the cases for.

By the way, would this just be in to Llanelli or out too?

The construction costs clearly outweigh the necessity of the idea, i didn't realise how much it costs just to create a basic station when i started the thread so the whole thing is a non-starter.

I don't see though what the distance has to do with it, it would be 1200m apart, on some of the Cardiff lines there are 3 stops within that distance: https://imgur.com/c78Y8rU

Oh the Irony.

The railway station was part of the original proposals for the move. I remember Stuart and Huw showing them to us.

Along with the pitchside Cafeteria in the east corner.

I think its a great idea. This is one of the busiest retail parks In the country and its getting bigger. The line goes straight through Trostre to gowerton why not price up how much this would cost. Youd be looking at tens of thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. It could help reduce traffic massively and pollution and bring more people to the town too. All of which helps businesses galore. Look at the amount of attractions and thousands of jobs down there, Trostre parc, pemberton park, all the industrial units are rented out to the max, Trostre steelworks, scarlets, hotels , pubs, the Gateway holiday park is huge and growing into a theme park. Penclacwydd and Machynys golf nearby, Hotel coming to the golf course too soon etc Theres thousands employed down there....Primark alone has 190 staff.

Something has to give here, the endless traffic now is absurd ....The massive housing sites at at stradey, dafen, bryn, llwynhendy, llangennech etc The new schools in Stradey and seaside...The umpteen roads that have become one way recently (george st, high street, caersalem terrace, Glanmore road, gilbert cresent, prospect place etc The new lights denham ave, sandy road , gelli onn etc Added to the endless roadworks and last but not least the massive rain experiement going on here for years? The main road by the station (great western crescent has been closed for over a year?)

Trostre has virtually no bus stops and no taxi ranks , which is just mindless and no footbridges anywhere in the town centre or in trostre, this all exacerbates the problem
The town needs major help. Millions was spent reinforcing trostre railway bridge now we need to get serious about this idea. Theres one hell of a lot more people visiting Trostre than Gowerton or most other places on any train route down west

Lets not forget, the council had put a quantity of land for sale as development for the area, adding to what is already there.

land on Trostre roundabout, land by the Landfill, and by the council offices behind KFC are all up for development... ND Stars did have plans to sell there field and relocate behind the tyre company,

so lots of room for thought here

Felinfoel library is for sale...the crown buildings are being demolished (the huge social security building though not sure? Is that for sale?) Theres several council buildings empty and the council are taking up a load of units in eastgate and town centre instead? all of which is hitting the footfall in the town and taking away all the rates theyd get from privately run businesses. All in all a right mess.
