Unfortunately Wales U20 made far too many mistakes from dropping high balls to missing first tackles to poor kicking, and did not have the size or power to cross the gain-line. Final score 37-12.
Conbeer rarely had the ball - maybe he should start moving around looking for it like Steff does.
Just to add to our misery Dan Davis was injured late on, although he managed to walk off.

I wonder if England have any U 20's on full time development /pro contracts as Wales are semi-pros aren't they? In effect is professionalism distorting the comparison?

Don't know about that, but we often struggle at this level as the English boys tend to be a bit bigger and more powerful. Also, Wales are clearly looking ahead to the U20 world cup - they changed 8 of the team, hardly something you'd do if picking your best side to win a tournament. I think England changed fewer players? But I'm not sure.

Probably some of the Welsh players had to return to duty for their Regions. We pulled Baldwin out. The English boys were massive and could probably step right up to senior rugby. The right winger has already played for Bath I think in a couple of Premiership fixtures. Don't know what their eating but I would suspect their diets are controlled and monitored to the same level as the top Pro rugby players. The Welsh players were skilful but totally out muscled and bullied.

Totally out muscled by England. The English right wing was superb and made Dan & Conbeer look pretty foolish for his try. Wales couldn't get any forward momentum so struggled throughout the game.

Cowbridge sadly - bit posh but a good talent. Ieuan told me his weight a few months back when he played for The Ravens and I recalled it was far too light for Pro Rugby. Couple of stone to go but he is a youngster.Great talent though

Brilliant attacking rugby from both teams, but especially Wales - poor defending by both, too!

Ref was pretty much of a 'homer' as the penalty stats showed... not saying we weren't offside too often, but he obsessed about that and completely ignored the Irish's favourite transgressions, namely:

1. taking players out well behind the ruck, and/or

2. 'sealing off' - players defending the tackled player's ball by putting their hands on the ground beyond the tackle.

I don't recall the ref penalising either offence all night!
