I agree, BBC should do what they do best and stick to it. Local rugby. But invest more time and money into it. If they did pump some coverage and money into the semi pro league i for one would see that as a good move. |

This may result in a lot less people in Wales watching the games on TV. Lets hope this doesn't have an affect in the future on people supporting and getting into rugby.

The ironic thing in all this is that a lot of people complained there was too much rugby on tv and that they hated the bbc coverage. A case of bite the hand that feeds you.

Wasn’t there some research that showed grassroots participation in Cricket dropped after it moved from free to view?

Nearly all the old SKY TV production team that did the rugby went to BT. Not all, but quite a few. They even brought in some that left Sky on early retirement.

I've a strong feeling it is 'only' existing rugby fans who watch live Pro 14 games on TV so, in which case, that won't be an issue. A good highlights programe would be the thing which would capture less committed viewers and, as just highlights, should encourage them towards rugby. And that's highlights of all the Pro 14 matches! |

Maybe they will broadcast live Welsh Premiership games instead (teams like RGC, Llanelli, Carmarthen, Pontypridd, Newport and Merthyr Tydfil)?

A few people have suggested this. The semi pro game could really do with a shot in the arm, and the Beebs local rugby club style magazine show would be perfect for the prem.

We might actually get a whole year’s fixtures in advance like the Aviva Prem ?

Sky sports for this, BT sports for that, and/or Premier Sports for live and delayed coverage. All our league n cup comps split over three Pay Per View broadcasters........what a fupping mess
Yeah, we could all get out of the arm chair and head down to Y Parc, in the ideal world, and if we all lived within half a countries travel to get there. However, we all don't, and then there's the away games that other home support can't get to or can't afford to get to. These broadcasters aren't thinking about us the supporters, their thinking about profit margins and viewing stats only. But hey, let's rejoice in the fact that the BBC have lost the Free to Air rights, it's surely going to ensure that the lack of TV coverage is going to increase our gate numbers, significantly. Must be win win eh.....really, we need to get a bit real folks! Edited by Mrfwon - 12 March 2018 at 10:37pm |

You won't need Sky Sports for any of our games next season, BT have all of Europe and Premier Sports the Pro14.
