After last night's result and given the fixtures in the run in anyone else feel that top spot is beyond us. Looking at Leinster's fixture with Ospreys away, both the Italian teams at home and Connacht away not convinced we can now overtake them. I guess the defeat out in Treviso was the body blow. Having said that Cheetas at home in QF aint so bad but the semi final would then be Leinster away I guess so could be playing them twice in two semi-finals in Dublin !!!.

Second place could see us play Cheetahs home in QF and then Glasgow away in semi

Don't think we can pull Leinster back now realistically. That defeat in Italy probably put paid to that. To secure second place a win in Edinburgh next month may be vital.

Even a win wouldn’t have made a difference. Looking at Leinster run in, I fully expect them to get wins in all remaining fixtures.
With our European challenge as well, we must remember that with our squad we are in the hunt for the champions cup. Bigger picture has to be looked at. On paper, that Leinster team which included a number of international players, 2 of which are British Lions, standing toe to to toe with them with the side chosen, squad players, teenagers etc is a big plus. 2 years ago, even last year, that fixture was a write off. Out of 10 possible points v Leinster this season we have managed to pick up 3. Leinster didn’t have a try bonus win against us. I think we are now in a situation where we need to take it game by game. Especially when the internationals are back and especially if we are to progress in Europe. |

Yep you’re right finish runners up and beat Cheetas would be Glasgow away which will make a change from playing one of the Irish teams and easier to get to 😃😃

Connacht and Ospreys away could be far more difficult than one imagines, while the Italians, will not lie down and die.
I don't think top place is out of the question, it will depend a certain degree what happens in 3 weeks time (20 days actually)

Home advantage, and the ticket revenue etc. is well worth playing for. 1st place is probably gone which is a shame because it means one less game to get to the final

We're still still here, but I wish we were in an Anglo-Welsh

We don’t need to fear anyone.
However a home play off game will be great for the feel good factor, ticket sales, experience etc. Edited by SospanMawr - 10 March 2018 at 2:47pm |

Think of it more as a blessing. We get one more game to watch our beloved Scarlets go and lift the trophy again.

There isnt any extra revenue, the home quarter is just replacing the home semi. But one exrta away game added to our season if we want to get to the final.

Surely it is an additional game that isn't on the ST ? If so, then it's all to pay which means extra revenue for the Club, ticket sales, wet sales and hospitality.

I am talking in the context of coming 2nd instead of 1st. If we come 1st place, we still only have the one extra game. So although coming 2nd place means an extra 2 games, we are still only having 1 extra home game, its just a quarter final instead of the semi final.

If we won every game I don't think we'd overtake Leinster now so I'd treat the Munster game as a reintegration and prep game for the quarter not worrying too much about the result, we just need to beat Edinburgh away and then win either Glasgow home or Dragons away (ish) and we should be safely second.
Having the Dragons last up before the league quarter is a bit of a blessing, almost a weekend off.
