A loss could see us fall to 5th. Big game.

As an aside these Xmas fixtures favour Connacht, as the other Irish teams, with large IRFU representatives in their ranks, are obliged to rest many players for at least 1 of these games.

LEICESTER TIGERS

Tom Varndell has returned to Leicester after cutting short his stint with French club Soyaux Angouleme after he and his young family failed to settle there.

Having not made a significant mark at Scarlets in the closing weeks of last season, the English Premiership's all-time top try-scorer has rejoined the Tigers as injury cover - he last played for them in 2009.

I'm just excited to be back in this environment. For the first time in six or seven months, I'm actually smiling every day.

We can capitalise on that defeat in Galway by going above Ulster tomorrow night with any kind of win. Have we actually got it to do this?

It’s a huge game. If we can grind out any sort of win, it probably turns our season around. Conversely a loss and its absolute last chance saloon.

If (big if) we can get a home playoff, we likely face one of Ospreys, Connacht or Cardiff. We can beat any of those.

Tomorrow is huge.

Benetton played quite good. Solid team with good individualities, Glasgow missed many occasions, the last one an easy kick almost in front of post went out...
It s a good table and open untill the end of season.

Yes a big game indeed. Also Ulster face Leinster next week so we have a huge chance to open up some daylight with the Blues followed by the Dragons at home.

Watched the Ospreys and Blues this afternoon and Scott showed what we are missing this season when he played in his true position at 12. The centres who caused us so much damage last week were not allowed a metre of space with Scott in their faces from minute one ably supported by Cory Allen. For the first try he carried hard and straight making 10 metres & was back in position to take Aled's pass brush off Navidi to score from 20 metres.

If he is not selected at 12 for the French game  I will be stunned. Aled did his chances of leapfrogging Cawdor no damage by controlling matters well with some good box kicking and classy touches. The Ospreys game plan involves too much kicking for my liking but in Aled & Davies they have quality operators.

I would say Munster are a good bet to finish 2nd in Conf A so if we attain 2nd place it will be one of Ospreys, Blues or Connacht at home. A potential away semi in Glasgow doesn't look as comfortable this season as last & unless there is huge improvement Leinster anywhere will be a damage limitation exercise.

In some good news for us, Connacht are 12-0 up against Ulster with a conversion to come. The Ulster scrum is in all sorts of bother.

30 minutes gone and Benetton lead 6-3, so currently we've slipped to 4th spot !

Make that 11-3 !!!

46 minutes gone 18-3

70+ on the clock in Treviso, and Benetton lead 21-3. Zebre failed to score whilst Benetton were down to 13 men for 8 minutes.

Just to rub it in, Edinburgh lead away to Glasgow at half time 6-3.

Benetton win 28-10, but only manage 3 tries thankfully. however that will still see them climb above us for now.

Connacht have won 21-12. A win tomorrow will see us rise above Ulster.

Lose, and we could drop down to 5th.

Samu Manoa has gone AWOL from the Blues, reports stating the Blues have already terminated his contract though this has not been confirmed.
