Surprised to see Rawlins not in the squad to face Benneton. He's a hard versatile back 5 forward who would have given us more versatility in the back row. Must mean Dan Davis is there instead.

Scarlets 'A' team for Ulster gives a few clues to squad for Benetton:

Morgan Williams, Tomi Lewis, Corey Baldwin, Steff Hughes ©, Steff Evans, Angus O'Brien, Kieran Hardy
Rhys Fawcett, Marc Jones, Simon Gardiner, Josh Helps, Lewis Rawlins, Lewis Evans-Jones, Shaun Evans, Tom Phillips

Jamie Hughes, Dafydd Hughes, Javan Sebastian, Morgan Jones, Chris Long, Declan Smith, Ryan Conbeer, Jac Price

With Fawcett, Gardiner, Rawlins & Tom Phillips in the A's, it suggests that the forwards for Benetton will be something like...

Phil Price
Ken Owens ©
Samson Lee
David Bulbring
Steve Cummins
Ed Kennedy
James Davies
Blade Thomson

Ryan Elias
Wyn Jones
Werner Kruger
Tom Price
Dan Davis

...with a back line of...

Leigh Halfpenny
Johnny Mcnicholl
Kieron Fonotia
Hadleigh Parkes
Tom Prydie
Dan Jones
Gareth Davies

Sam Hidalgo-Clyne
Paul Asquith
Ioan Nicholas

...assuming Foxy, Patch, Jonny Evs and Jake aren't available.

The A team really is providing a useful second string for returning, fringe and emerging players.

Agree Nobby that it is! Good to see it turning out in practice as had been talked about. Impact on the clubs is a whole different (though connected) discussion but the A team is certainly helping us already.

That looks like a good match day squad - why do you think Jake won't figure? He played more than an hour last week, and his withdrawal was said to be 'precautionary' - has anything been said to make you think he won't figure this week at all?

Is there any indication that Patch remains unavailable?

Nope - only included those that have been mentioned as likely to be available. Not heard any update on Jake, Patch, Foxy or Jonny, so left them out of my 'probables' XXIII - great if they are fit.

UPDATE: In fact, now I've actually re-read the Scarlets release, it says:
  • Mcnicholl & Ball - back in training yesterday
  • Wyn Jones - trained this week, in contention for Benetton
  • Cassiem - back running, return 'just around the corner'
  • Dylan Evans - had a bump, prob won't be risked this weekend
  • Foxy - not being rushed back
  • Rob Evs & Josh Macleod - no surgery needed, assessed again next week, Rob prob back in 2-3 weeks
So squad may be slightly stronger than I conservatively thought.

How Llanelli RFC would love to have some of those A team players in their squad but sadly they have become sidelined and not having much success on the field of play! Unhappy

I wouldn't be surprised if they disband them tbh. We can't have a region. A team and rfc not enough players at this level sadly.

9. Cawdor
8. Blade
7. Cubby

Why no Ball, didn't see him get injured and surely needs game time if only 40 mins.
Keep the faith
