He would have answered some of our number 8 issues and would have played with and been coached by Stevo at Wasps.
yes a big lump and that’s probably his salary not just his physical lump factor ! 😉

Out of our league then ! I wonder if he'll still get that if Bristol are relegated ? Is there relegation season end ?

Don't think his disciplinary record is too good.

They are currently 7 points clear of relegation...

Don't rate Hughes much for such a big guy he doesn't seem to make many metres and he is injury prone and error prone.

Agree. He is a 'decent' 8 but nothing more. I'd be happy to keep what we've got in terms of 8's based on....

1. Cassiem hasn't had a fair crack yet. I don't think we've seen the true player and i'm still backing him to be a success.
2. I've always said the future for us at 8 is Josh Macloed. Pivac seems to see him more as a 7, maybe the new guy won't.
3. Carwyn Tuipilotu is waiting in the wings.
4. Good chance Faletau will be looking to come back to Wales season after next. I don't think the Dragons will have the budget for him, Moriarty, Wainwright and Griffiths.
5. Blade was looking good at 8.

Basically I think we've got enough options not to have to panic buy.

2nd row or 2 with bulk power we need to give us go forward. maybe a physical 8 as well.

I know 17 year old Carwyn Tuipolotu has signed some sort of "contract" with our academy but is he not still living and playing his rugby somewhere in England? What is the timescale for him starting to play for, say, our U21 s?

I know this may be a bit sad, but looking at our squad and areas to strengthen or fill gaps, we could really do with 4/5 quality additions, if the money is available.

Hooker - Covered

Th prop - Give Kruger another 2 year contract and we will be covered.

LH prop - Need to retain those on the books.

Lock - We really need another big abrasive lock to assist Ball, who seems to pick up a lot of injuries. Whether we can retain the rest, I don't know. I think Price needs a run of games with us and will come good. Seems to have really bulked up of late.

Back Row - Could really do with a south sea islander sort of 6/8. Dynamic and aggressive. This is in addition to retaining the rest.

Covered at 9

OH - Need a quality 10 to compete with Patchell and Dan J. Priestland would be great, but if we have serious ambitions we need to go all out for Owen Williams Both can also cover 12.

Centre - In keeping Asquith I think we are covered here. Owen Williams or the Priest will also help.

Back 3 - I'm still not convinced with Bloomingcheese. Hopefully he will come good. What we are really lacking is a winger with serious bulk and speed. All the best teams seem to have a Lowe, Speight etc. A high quality 16 Stone winger would be a huge plus. And finally, goes without saying, really need Johnny Mac to stay. However the way Pivac is talking in press conferences reminds me if others who have left, so I think he will be gone sadly.

Therefore: lock, 6/8, outside half and winger. Not much to ask for really 😉

Also, those mentioning Tuipolotu, he's still very young and we have another prospect in Sam Williams at 8 coming through. Both will probably be another couple of years before they are ready to step up I think.

We need another tight head, Gardner not really the answer.

We may need to loose some players though, as they will want to play regular, back row squad of 10:-

Boyde, Macleod, Cubby, Dan, Cassiem, Shaun Evans, Tom Phillips, Rawlings, Shingler, Blade

Llanelli may not be an option next season ?

Glad I'm not in that position.
Be careful when you pick up the stick.........IT MAY BE THE WRONG END!!!!!!!!!!

Utterly farcical. They should ringfence Llanelli, Swansea, Neath, Aberavon, Bridgend, Ponty, Cardiff, Newport.

I've been very impressed by Sam Williams playing for Coleg Sir Gar. He remindss me of Scott Quinell.
