Halfpenny won't be available this weekend - still not passed HIA protocols following Kerevi's shoulder charge - makes even more of a mockery of the inconsistent application of laws meant to protect players' swedes.
Blade Thomson also being given an extended break, but Jake has passed HIA 'return to play' tests, and Samson & Cub may be fit to return. Edited by NobbySosban - 04 December 2018 at 1:29pm |

with that in mind it looks likely to be something like 15 Jonny 14 Steff 13 Parkes 12 Foxy 11 Prydie 10 Patch 9 Cawdor 8 Uzair 7 Boyde 6 Kennedy 5 Ball 4 Bullbring 3 Kruger 2 Ken 1 Rob 16 Wyn 17 Elias 18 Samson 19 Cubby 20 Cummins 21 SHC 22 Fonotia 23 Asquith SHC can cover 9 and 10 so would leave us have Fonotia and Asquith on bench |

My team would be slightly different from the one above with the following :-
15. Clayton 14. Jonny 13. Foxy 12. Asquith 11. Steff 10. Rhys 9. Cawdor 1. Rob 2. Ken 3. Samson 4. Jake 5. Cummins 6. Kennedy 7. Cubby 8. Casseim 16. Elias 17. Wyn 18. Werner 19. Bulbring 20. Boyde 21. SHC 22. Dan 23. Parkes My logic in the changes are that I feel we are looking for a 5 pointer. Clayton is a risk defensively but he is sharp in attack. Asquith for me has been our most dangerous creative attacker in midfield. If Clayton goes wrong we have Parkes to 12, Asquith to 14 & Jonny to 15. In the forwards Cummins and Jake are our top rows and if Samson & Cubby are fit they start. Cubby in the past has played his first game after injury as if he hasn't been away & Samson starting will allow Werner to come on when he can cause most damage. If Dan is fit he must be on the bench it is such a specialist position.

By number...
Wyn, Ken, Samson, Ball, Cummins, Boyde, Cubby, Cassiem. Cawdor, Patch, Steff, Parkes, Foxy, Prydie, Jmac Rob, Elias, Kruger, Bulbring, Kennedy/Rawlins, SHC, Fonotia, Asquith. No out and out 10 on the bench, we need match winners. Asquith is one. Wyn gets the nod over Rob, Dafydd would have over Elias, but he is not in the Euro squad. Pressure on Parkes, Cummins and Samson as there was on Rob Evs. Replacements waiting their chance. Asquith will come in on the wing if either of Prydie or Steff don’t show up well, this week and going forward. We are genuinely under pressure as a set up, perhaps for the first time in a couple of seasons. Edited by Wil Chips - 04 December 2018 at 2:36pm |

agree with that team Wil. feel we have underperformed by quite a bit and some players have maybe sat on their laurels. we need to turn up on Friday night and make a statement against a dangerous ulster team who are still well in the group and are capable of turning us over if we are not on our mettle.

Yes, Wil's reasoning seems reasonable!
Rob not at his best recently, so Wyn deserves a shot. Kruger definitely a good carrier to bring on after 55min or so. It will be useful to have an X-factor player like Asquith on the bench.

Weatherwise, we need a dry night too. At the moment Met Office giving Llanelli a 10% chance of rain @ 18:00 & 30% chance @ 21:00 (light showers).

BBC shows gale force winds and light rain. Keep Bluecheese in the stands and play Prydie at full back. Load the bench with forwards. Not a night for running rugby. 🤔

Boyde is too lightweight for 6 in my experience of recent games, Kennedy gives us lineout options and carrying ability. Asquith is indeed a match winner hence I start with him as Parkes has had a poor season so far. I would be very nervous of not having a decent 10 on the bench particularly with Rhys' recent troubles. I have no argument with you selecting Wyn over Rob or indeed Jonny over Clayton both are very tight calls in my mind. You are spot on we are, as a set up, under pressure to perform over a run of games both home & away.

All very fair and plausible thoughts. I’d go with that logic too.

Friday's result is huge, irrespective of progress in Europe, but for momentum for the domestic season. Weve not fired properly all season, hopefully the players and coaches can unite to produce a performances that it's well capable of. Let's show some tactical nous and play what they see in front of them. It's time for the experienced players to lead us properly and galvanise the squad to produce a performance that is long overdue.

We NEVER do well in the first game post AIs and I fully expect them to turn up at the Parc this week. I do, however, think we have a huge challenge to turn up the week after and make a statement away from the comfort of home. Lose in Belfast and I don't see anything but defeat in the Liberty.

We need to restore the fear in opponents when we come to visit.
There’s no reason why we can’t. It’s just about assembling our squad; dusting off the rustiness from some inaction; getting them to focus and gel so that the intricate and exciting way in which we and they know we can play can be shown off at its best. We have more of the parts needed than most. Let’s make them not just add up. Let’s make them multiply. Edited by Eastern outpost - 04 December 2018 at 9:05pm |
