To win in France, Gatland has to follow the Blues imprint on how to play rugby that's according to Shane Williams

Gatland would really have hoped for Halfpenny to be fit for this game. The French will throw the kitchen sink at us but they really have issues with deciding who to play at 9/10. Picking up the points on offer will be so important because the French do not like to come from behind. With that in mind I would not be overly surprised to see Biggar starting at 10.

Anscombe and Bigger are both as accurate as Halfpenny. |

Yes I think they probably are in general but not when it matters at the top end of International rugby. Biggar, to me, is a better goal kicker than Anscombe in those circumstances but Halfpenny is Gatlands go to man.

IF moriarty and liam are fit then that may tip the scales our way. I agree with ffidel to a degree that we must be measured in our optimism here. We usually start slow , several players are carrying niggles and yes we are missing 4 class acts in hapenny, scott , faletau and shingler. But the injuries in the past year have seen us develop some quality back ups. Hence we have seen the emergence of wainwright, seb davies, cory hill, watkin, tom williams, josh adams, dee, beard, etc The front 5 seems to be at full strength, foxy north are our best 2 backs and theyre fit too. The rankings and results and previous matches all point to wales as favourites but these matches have been narrow affairs. I think we are capable of winning in style , we have the experience, the winning run, the caps, the talent imo but rarely do wales put an 80 minute display in. This will be another white knuckle ride.

Yesterdays French training suggest
Romain Ntmack and Wesley Fofana are due to start in the centres, lining
up outside Parra and Lopez, with Penaud and Huget on the wings. Medard
at full back.

That would be typically French. Personally don't rate young Ntmack that highly yet. Fofana has been quality for years but some serious injuries have hampered him. There are better centre options in France but they don't get selected. Penaud is a good player and I would have picked him at 13 with someone like Chavauncy of Racing at 12 - he is as tough as old boots and always gives his all in the cause. The French are desperate to find an International quality 10. Parra, Lopez & Medard all left footed kickers!!!!
