Dewi Lake is a real talent but he has got to sort his lineout work out. I realise that conditions were pretty poor which is probably why we won. One of those games where it was better to play without the ball. Conbeer's break was fantastic & his pass would have resulted in a try on most days. He really is a force going forward usually beating the first few defenders with great footwork and impressive acceleration.

Yes it was embarrassing. There was no wind just rain and the ball was dried on towel but it was a shambles. The kiwis had no problems.

These things need to be seen at full speed rather than ultra slow motion. The Welsh player jumped for the ball and the natural thing to do is bend your knees upon impact - this caused his height to be drastically reduced. The ABs player was committed to hit him upon landing, just unfortunate that the Welsh player's height was reduced to make the tackle look bad. I guess this was the mitigating factor the referee took into account. |

Referee demonstrably wrong as he’s now been cited.

Yep. The Kiwi should obviously have understood that the player would have to land after jumping well before he estimated the impact of his intended tackle to catch the ball. He didn’t show enough care or foresight and is accountable in the new tough player welfare regime for the outcome. Tough compared to the old days but he was in the wrong imo.

Costellow's jaw was indeed broken. I haven't seen that incident though.

This was the one that riled me more than the other one, 11 had no realistic chance of taking the ball came in with a shoulder and ref gave a knock on, no penalty and no card.

Yes that was a clear shoulder charge -no arms tackle etc.. Should have been a yellow for sure. Poor refereeing . |

Anyone know exactly why there are 27 in U20 World Championship squads? Are there any other differences to the replacement laws (ie - can the all be used, do they have allocated positions, are rolling subs allowed?) - can't find anything on the World Rugby website, & missed any mention by commentators.
