I had covid thanks to Mrs. Reesy about 6 months ago and she got it again about 3-4 weeks ago and I didn’t get it! Weird isn’t it. I have a chronic incurable  lung condition who has been on an oxygen concentrator for the last 8 months or so on exercise, so a bit worried without getting neurotic but it’s really odd how some get covid and some don’t! 🤔

To that end, South Africa has seen cases triple over the last 10 days. No new variant.

Just come back from 16 days in the UK.
Spent 10 days self isolating after testing positive on Day 4. Probably picked up in a rugby clubhouse.

Total misread by me. What an idiot. All the indicators show plunging cases and no restrictions in Wales.

Yet very quickly on arrival we found multiple cases within family and friends ( non linked). All thankfully mild cases.

How did I miss that after 2 years of navigating the pandemic. How to be that naive. Like I said. Idiot.

Our equation is different to others a bit as I couldn’t afford my wife and children to test positive when travelling back and school starting, so it was 10 days of Netflix and work.

Didn’t get to see the extended family, kids or grandkids

I’m summary a total self ordained $**tshow.

A near infographic on the new omicron strain

Also, absolutely shocking to see the cases and death rates in Hong Kong now.

There is now evidence emerging for changes to people's brains after Covid, even non-severe or long Covid cases:

Brain changes after COVID revealed by imaging (nature.com)

PM me if you want to read either and there is a paywall, the top article is the most readable unless you're a neurologist.

I think it's too early to get worried if you have had Covid and considering the number of cases we've had we'll know a lot more soon. The above I don't think takes into account Covid after vaccine, either. Many unknowns still.

PS If you are worried I daresay we could do a study and find drinking alcohol or watching daytime TV has a far bigger effect!

New infections up to over 71,000 today.  Rising steadily every day.
Never mind people can be trusted to act responsibly. (Not)

Yeah it’s interesting - someone did a little deep dive on it here. Hard to tell why, somewhat concerning.

2 years to the week since Lockdown 1. Might as well lock down again just for a laugh

As anyone will know, I am not Boris's greatest fan. I also continue to shield - more or less.

The stats are complicated, though - yesterday, I saw a very detailed list of figures (probably on BBC, I can't find them now) which showed that the numbers of patients in hospital in Wales BECAUSE of COVID was quite small (76 or so?) There were more people in hospital for other treatments who also tested positive for COVID ( say, 250+ or so). Only around 9 patients were on ventilators.

My guess... with most people vaccinated, even those who catch COVID don't get very ill for the most part. (I am immunocompromised, so continue to be super careful for the time being.)

So, I think the worst is over (despite the government) and FOR MOST PEOPLE they can  be a bit less careful - but PLEASE show consideration for those of us not so lucky. (Don't forget your elderly family members, diabetics etc!)

Each one of us needs to think carefully about not only their own risk profile, but also that of anyone they are close to.
Well said. It’s also why ending free LF tests is such a bad idea. Currently I, as a young fit person can go about my day to day life as normal, knowing that if I want to see a frail family member I can just do a quick test, and know I’m probably not infectious. Taking away those free tests means I’d have to either curtail my own socialising, not see a family member, or pay to see them. Hardly a fair situation, especially so for those who can’t afford the tests.

Going to ask this in here as it is COVID related.

Does anyone know how people will get the £150 credit on their Council Tax Bill? I have been sent my demand for the year, my house is band B, & there is no mention of it on the demand.

Boris doesn't want us to know, nor do the right wing of the Tory party.
