Drakeford and Gethin are lagging behind the rest of the uk in % terms on every single metric

Not good enough not good enough at all

Frankly the Welsh response to a mass vaccination programme which they knew well in advance was coming has been worse than pathetic. Stories of red tape surrounding volunteers who have retired from the medical profession abound. In addition a GP from Llanelli wrote recently that supplies to his surgery were totally hit and miss and his surgery could vaccinate many many more if it wasn't for the supply issue.

Please all fellow posters who advocate home rule for Wales remember this fiasco if & when the topic ever comes up again.

1. We are limited by what Westminster sends us.

2, The issue with getting retired docs and nurses to help out is a UK wide problem.

3. I will certainly NOT be voting for Reckless, Bennett or Suchorzewski.

The first two in my view are political opportunists. The Abolish the Welsh Assembly party is his 4th, yes 4th, party in a little over 6 years. He crossed the floor in 2014 to UKIP from the Conservatives, to Brexit and now Abolish. I think I'm right in saying that he doesn't even live in Wales !

Bennett has shown himself to be an Islamophobe and appears to be anti Welsh language. He claimed £10k in expenses to set up a constituency office that never opened, and has been banned a number of times from speaking in the Senedd for his inflammatory remarks.

Not sure why people are still attempting to defend drakeford And gethins roll out of the vaccine, it’s been dreadful the stats are there for all to see.  We maybe limited by what westminster sends but we cant even use  the ammount we are being given so that’s hardly an excuse

Seems to be a global problem...the US have distributed 30m vaccines, but so far only administered 10m.

If rumours are to be believed, they are doing their best to get rid of it by putting in the arms of NHS managers and administrators, Specsavers and the like, pharmacy staff and prescription delivery drivers. That should give the roll out a boost. πŸ€“πŸ™„

Your right fella they should be throwing any they have from unattended appointments away, no point using it on people who are potentially on the front line making daily contact with the public....what a waste.

I see the rise in wealth of the elite few billionaires charges on, elon musk was worth a mere 10 billion in 2015, this week his wealth shot up to 188 billion , its hovering around 175 billion now

Bezos has gone from $63 to 180 billion in the past 5 years
carlos slim has gained $20 billion in 5 years
bill gates has gone from $79 to 129 billion in the same period
Buffet has gone from $67 to 86 billion
Zuckerberg has gone from $33 to 101 billion
etc
The way musk is heading with the electric car revolution whats the odds on him becoming a trillionaire?

Im sure everyone agrees such ingenious people deserve rewards, but these rewards are bigger than most entire countries annual budgets, surely the governments around the globe and the EU could be doing far more taking more of a chunk of their wealth, to pay for public services, feed the hungry and redistributing wealth etc

So your saying the rumours are correct then.
How does that work then?  At the end of the day say 10 have failed to attend, how do they get it out to the various random occupations to vaccinate them?
Do they phone around the pharmacists or admin offices or opticians and tell them to scoot around for a jab?
Would be more sensible to have a standbye list of the over 80's, over 75's and even the over70's who are ready to go at any time and arrange for a few of them to have it. At least then your getting the vaccine into the arms  of  the priority groups  and helping to achieve the targets.(in my humble opinion).     n

I couldn't tell you, I have nothing to do with vaccinations, but it seems to me if there are 10 no shows and you have to use the vaccinee or bin it, It makes sense to give it to staff.I can'tt imaginee they aren't calling reserve lists before using up vaccines on staff but if you are vaccinating in a hospital it seems likely there would be pharmacy staff and public facing employees who they could vaccinate rather than bin it.

You can look at it two ways....getting rid of it to boost numbers or using vacciness that have a relatively short shelf life once they are made up to protect people who have more face to face contact than most.

Quite a difference between Wales and the other nations when it comes to 2nd doses. Hopefully just a reporting anomaly.

England 415,656
NI - 19,010
Scotland - 3,190
Wales - 121

Wales is the best performer.  2nd doses being given goes against Government policy.  The plan is to give as many people as possible their first dose in order to give a base level of protection.
Every second dose given to someone denies another person their first dose.
Well done Wales and shame on the other nations.
