Bowling was quick
jiffy was lightning over 60 meters
JJ over 100 m was in the frame
gerald was lightning quick
mak jones very quick
Ieuan of course over the first 40 meters was dynamite he was also an absolute genius with his timing into the line and angles of running
Not sure how quick north is compared to these other greats

He was. Shame he couldn’t catch a cold though

This century, Kris Phillips, Mark Jones and North.

So hard to gauge players from earlier generations. Modern training, pitch composition and quality, and footwear is worth a yard over 20.

Again, it depends over what distance you want to measure. Over a dry, firm straight 100m JJ would probably win as he was could maintain a high pace over the whole length. Whether, in rugby terms, this was as useful as Ieuan or Mark Jones who were also able to swerve to beat a man at almost top speed is debatable. From an entertainment point of view I would always sacrifice out and out pace for the likes of Shane Williams who could make fools of a couple of men waiting, almost on top of him and have enough acceleration to leave them standing while he crossed the line. Although it's early days yet, Ryan Conbeer also seems to have some of that rare talent.

Was in school with Steve Bowling. He was 10 for the Penyrheol A team and I was on the wing. Never forgave him for going to Neath and scoring against us in the cup final LOL

Mark Jones
Ryan Conbeer
Tomi Lewis
Kristian Phillips
Harry Robinson-quickest in Wales over 40m at one time I believe.
Steff Evans
Morgan Stoddart

Fact is unless there's some scarlets athletics championships.. We will never know!

Another Steff Evans, surely? He doesn't strike me as particularly fast. Not in the same league as the others in that list anyway.

When George North was is the academy I think he broke all the records? Fast on the pitch can be misleading. Other fast men in the last years - Jordan, DTH, Conbeer, Dan Evs, Cubby! 😀

Terry Davies 60's & 70's...............also played with London Welsh-not the full back- ran in the commonwealth games in 1962 or 1966 I think.

Wyn Oliver--also ran in the commonwealth games 1958

Clive Rees (Fred)

Andy Hill could shift as well.

Those are some of the "oldies"
Be careful when you pick up the stick.........IT MAY BE THE WRONG END!!!!!!!!!!
