Delme is so modest and a wonderful capt for Llanelli.  The measure of how good he was - playing out of position in a test in 66 for lions v nz at prop and getting huge reviews by nz.  Returned in 71 and was immense

Spot on his speech to the players before our epic victory in 1972 was, well what can I say. I choke up every time I hear it. Telling the players he would gladly swap all his Welsh & Lions caps for a Llanelli win was stuff of legend and the tears filling the dressing room showed what he and Llanelli meant to everyone involved. Gwyn Ashby, who wasn't even playing, looked as if he was ready to go to war.LOL

The population of the Gorseinon town council area in the 2011 Census is 8,693. However, the ONS defines an area called the Gorseinon Urban Area which comprises all of the continuous built up area in and around Gorseinon. This area includes Gorseinon, LoughorGarden Village and Penllergaer[2] and has a population of 20,581.

Taken from Wikipedia.

To equal Bancyfelin on a like for like population wise, Gorseinon town area needs to have produced 60 Lions, if you include the outlying areas it's 150.

Bancyfelin does takes some beating to produce three British Lions, for such a tiny village is tremendous!!!

I think Cefneithin worth a mention here for producing Carwyn James and Barry John:both had an immeasurable influence on the game, and no Lions party has won a series in New Zealand since 1971.

There was a joke going around during the 2013 Lions tour to Australia, that Bancyfelin had more players in the 23 man Test squad than Scotland.
