Franks wasn’t contracted to the NZRU. He is/was on Northampton’s books as a player.

This could be a shrewd signing. Franks was a very solid prop, has stacks of experience at the highest level and has been coached by some of the best in the world. A nice quote from his Head Coach at Northampton. Chris Boyd said: "He's probably the ultimate professional. I don't think I've coached a player that's put more effort into his preparation, his attention to detail. Not a naturally gifted athlete, but he squeezed every bit out of his being. |

Sure I have read that Steve hansen said he was the hardest trainer with the all blacks. Always staying later. Sounds a very astute move by us

Good signing. Hopefully can get Samson back into some kind of form. A tricky first coaching task though.

This could be a great move, a player with 2 World Cup winners medals, has played in one of the best international pack of the professional era and has also played in the English Premiership. He’s been playing up until lockdown so will up to speed on the latest rules governing the scrum. The young props coming through the system can only look up to someone like him.
Welcome to the Scarlets Ben.
